| grinders are great i just invested 40 in a grinder that can grind a little over a quarter ounce and also kifs at the same time i love it and you barly loose any potency by breaking by hand its the same as kifing and that way you loose almost no potency so i cant see it making a big diffrence maybe if you are a heavy smoker, smoking more than a quarter a day |

| Ive gone through quite a few grinders so far.Plastic ones are cheap and are good for about a week...untill they break on you!Wooden ones might seem like a nice idea but the more its used the harder it is to grind and its almost freakin impossible to clean them.I ended up trashing mine. Id invest in a nice smooth metal one whether it has a kief catcher or not.I found a nice one at the local head shop that I plan on buying very soon. For so long I broke up my stash with my bare hands and my fingers were always sticky no matter how much you wash your hands.Plus alot of crystals and resin come off on your hands which takes away from your high but not by so much.Metal grinders for life![]() |

it's burning properties (it's all about surface area). So the short answer is yes.

Depends on how big a piece you put in. A grinder isn't a wood chipper. Your typical circular, manual grinder is designed to accept multiple small pieces, not a huge nugget. You do have to be able to close the grinder. A good aluminum grinder will deal with small stems. An acrylic (plastic) grinder is less durable and you have to be more careful with what you load. You have to decide how much stem material you want ground and how hard you want to work at grinding. As for the finer the grind the better, that's true to an extent. But dry weed will sometimes grind to powder and then your particles are packed so close together that air flow is restricted. The dryness of it does tend to even things out though. | |

| For those who don't already have grinders, you can find really nice ones for cheap on eBay. I recently bought a Sharpstone brand grinder (4-piece grinder w/screen & kief catcher) for $25, shipping included. It is just as good as a SpaceCase, for less than half of the cost. It also came with a nice bag to store it in, and a small rubber scraping tool for getting the kief out of the bottom compartment. It works like a charm! I also saw one for sale on amazon not very long ago. I'd say this is probably the best deal you'll get for a grinder this good. Why pay $50+ when you can get one that works just as well for less than half of that?

| I don't mind a few stems in my herb, but seeds give me a headache like you wouldn't believe. My first experience with a grinder was less than happy..... I had never seen one before a friend of mine pulled one out and used it to grind up his herb. Just one thing. I knew it had seeds and that he hadn't cleaned them out. At first I thought he had some different, but when he fired up the joint, I smelled seeds burning. I only hit it twice because of the nasty seed taste, but I still got a bad headache........ ![]() I was finally able to get a good Space Case to play with, and here is my review......"Clean out the seeds and big stems!" They will only dull your blades quicker, and who wants to smoke them.... I agree with the recomendation of a metal one....I have seen a couple of the plastic ones after a week of normal usage just fall apart.......I know, your sitting there saying, "But Dedbr, I use the grinder to take care of the seeds and stems for me, that's the reason I have it. " I know that. But to me, the flavor and texture of the smoke is an important part of smoking, part of the enjoyment, so I want a pure smoke, just like the kief I collect...... Pure herb. Nothing but the good stuff......... here..........Some Where In Ded Land................ ![]()

| I'm getting to be REALLY spoiled. I haven't had to worry much about seeds since I picked up my grinder. Even the brick I've smoked has been damn near seedless. Be warned though.....once you get a grinder, breaking herb up by hand will seem like an ancient art. I about panicked the other day...had a nice nug just waiting to be burned, and no grinder in sight! Luckily, my panic was short-liveed, because it was just hiding behind my water bottle! At that moment, though, I realized just how attached to my grinder I am.....ther thought of actually breaking it all up by hand just seemed strange. marijuana itself might not be addictive, but using a good grinder sure is!!!!
