Default Grinders

Well I have a questionabout grinders. Before I asklet me tell ya'll that I have never used one before. I always hand break my stuff. It is kinda a ritual for me i guess. Just playing with my smoke. Any way a guy at my local head shop was talking to me about grinders. He said that i loose potency from breaking from hand. So this is my questiondo you really loose potencyby hand breaking??????????

If so I guess i need to buy a grinder. It really sounds like no big deal but i have been doing the same ritual for over 15 years soto me it is a big deal. I wold be willing to change this ritual if the benifits are truly there but only for that reason. Any helpwould be apreciated in this matter.

I doubt it makes that much difference but a screen grinder is nice to have.

Default yes buy one

Grinders are amazingly awesome,
1.they grind up herb very fine in just a couple of seconds
2.all of the crystals that come off the weed go into the kief catcher which can be used later when u have enough and that gets u sooo blazed
i suggest you buy one they are not that expensive maybye 20-$50 depending on how good it is juts make sure it catches kief

Mine has a screen that cathes kief.. and it's very handy.
I have had other grinders over the years, but I won't ever have to buy a new one now (unless I lose it ), as I am very happy with the one I have now.
I'd recommend diamond cut pegs.. they grind it up a little better, and stay sharp.

When you break up bud with your fingers, quite a bit of the resin sticks to them. Unless you make a special effort to scavenge it from your fingers, it's lost along with its high.

Before I used a grinder, I'd cut up my bud with a pair of dissecting scissors left over from some biology class. You could see the resin accumulating on the blades. When there was enough of it, I'd scrape it off and smoke it. A lot of resin sticks to my grinder as well, enough that I have to clean it after every couple of uses. If I don't, it becomes difficult to turn the top and grind anything. I used to scrape the resin off with a sharp knife, but most grinders are aluminum and a steel knife will scratch them up. Now I clean it with a little 91% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), let the alcohol evaporate, and scavenge the resin from the bottom of the container.

I really liked doing it by hand and I still use the scissors if I'm breaking up the bud to roll a joint. Mostly I vape, and the smaller the particle size the better a vape extracts the essential goodness. I use a grinder for the vape because chopping bud up fine enough by hand or scissors would take too long.

I was in the same situation. I used to break mine up by hand for many years until I got a grinder last year. My grinder was the best purchase I had made until I got my Vap. Now it's all good.
Happy grinding to ya.

Yup, even the simpleat, cheap grinder seems like near-perfection if its your first grinder experience. I got a 4 piece one with my vape, and not only did I fall in love, but so did all my friends. I bought a couple of them cheap plastic grinders, and while certainly not a Space Case, they were quite happy with them. As one of them finished grinding his entire supply, his comment was "I don't know how I ever got along without this! its like "poof!" and my weed is cleaned!"

I almost only grind my green. It makes for conveniant and evenly spread bowls, that are also real quick to load. The best bonus is the keif.

Quick Idea:

If you have a grinder with a kief catcher, put a quarter in the chamber above the keif screen, where all the grinded weed end up. Shake it up after you grind the weed for a couple minutes while the green is still in it. Then take out your bud, and swish the quarter around again for a minute or two. Usually off a half 8th we get a bowl's worth of kief, which is pretty damn nice.

i use a kitchen herb chopping board and a sharp curved blade...very efficient, i can chop the weed as coarse or as fine as i like...i like this method because it's got a similar sort of ritualistic feel that rolling joints once used to have for me...also i keep the blade uber sharp which means very little resin builds up on it and the board scrapes clean as a whistle...job done!
