I completely agree. I haven't put nuggets in a bowl since I was a noob. The more ground, the better, in my opinion.

I just get a small nug and put it on the bottom of the bowl. Take my hand grinded bud and sprinkle it on top.
I remember when I started I would just throw a nug in there and light.
It burns a lot better.

I just started using grinders this past month, I got a plastic one with my vape, and bought an aluminum 4 stage one for $6 on amazon, came with a hand scale too!.. The scale is off but as it's a free gift with a cheap metal grinder, it doesn't matter. I grind up a few bowls worth, and then smoke on them, then grind more, ect. But I haven't been able to break the habit breaking it up by hand instead of using the ground bud when I Smoke a bowl, just when I vape. Force of habit I guess..

Depending on the grinder size u will get a different outcome. The smaller the grinder the more powdery it will become. Get a big grinder if u want to smoke pellets. I think grinders are great cuz if u got the screen u catch the keef and it turns that session into a two for one special. I try to look on the bright side when im high lol
