Yep, can't blame it on the holiday weekend now. People just aren't voting. Need a way to draw more peoples attention to this contest. I was thinking about throwing some grams out to the winner and maybe the runners up, maybe that would attract more people. Post something in the general topics thread to get the word out.
I realize that the pics that are submitted could be lumped into the photography category, but I see this to be more of a contest than I see it as just Art & Photography submissions. It would be nice to see it in General Topics or something, somewhere that is a bit more traveled by all the members

Seriously, most people don't even know the SOTW is going on most likely. It needs to be broadcasted better if we want it to work, at least a link to the voting in the General Topic forums for people to see.

I agree also. I know that it's not exactly on-topic for general topics, but I mean does it really matter that much? It's a contest, and it will certainly get more recognition in general topics. I usually side with the mods on this type of stuff, but in this case I could see an exception being made

That's just it. It's more than a general topic. So it doesn't really fit there, that's why I put the "or something" in my post. It matters when it comes to keeping some semblance of order to the site.

Can't get in the habit of making exceptions, the phrase "give em an inch and they'll take a mile" comes to mind. Don't want the General Topics forum to become a hodge podge of stuff that is better suited in more appropriate forums. I suppose you could say it might fit into other forums like Games and Sports or maybe Polls and Surveys, but there's some grey area there also. It's not really a game or a sport. It's not really just a poll. It's a contest.

Exactly, drawing more people in to participate is the goal. I also wonder if giving out a prize (grams) other than the 1 month subscription would be a good idea with respect to maintaining the integrity of the contest.

Still only 33 votes. Thats weak dude, we have hundreds of members, and at least 50-60 members that are usuals/post often/would vote here.

Oh please, like the mods don't have absolute Godly power over everyone else. They make the rules, obviously, and I don't think making an exception in the good of the forum would really diminish their 'powers'.

I want to get this shit worth something, get new people here- it's always the same people and now that we have 'hidden' SOTW/NUG PIC THREAD way out here that is not likely to happen. Their is so much beautiful chronic I want to see!
