Ya, I hear people using the term blades, I think as a method of use.

what are they?
how do they work?
what are the perks?

Being shown in real life and not the boards would give you the best understanding.

Roll weed into tight balls 5mm in diameter (called "blades," even though the knives are the actual blades), or hash balls slightly smaller, place on a plate.
Find a pen tube or funnel and tubing to inahle through (dubbed the "hooter").
Have two knives and tape the handles with hockey tape so your hands won't get hot.
Heat the tips of the knives with a stove element or a propane torch.
Touch one red hot knife tip to a blade, pick up, and squish with other red hot knife tip underneath the hooter's free end while you suck on the other end. This can be very tricky at first to do all by yourself, having someone "serve" the blades will probably be necessary.
Or any variation of the same principles.

By using blades your are creating a mini-vapourizer, it is efficient because no flame burns off THC, and no weed is wasted (as long as your don't roll your blades too big!). Another advantage is you can be more precise with how much you smoke than other methods. They seem to go to your brain faster, but also seem to burn you out faster.
