"Marijuana" in different languages

Hey all,
I was just wondering if anyone knows how to say "marijuana" or "weed" in a different language. I really don't know any common slang associated with marijuana in other languages. It'd be nice to know while traveling...

Marijuana should do the trick, but be aware of certain accents and pronunciations.

in jamacia i think its something like "dagga" but thats probably wrong

actually, in jamaica weed is known primarily as "ganja" but is also known by many other names, sch as collie, lamb's breath, and also by many of the slang terms used here in the US. Dagga, if I am not mistaken, is used in INdia or someplace like that, not Jamaica

BTW Mishrio, marijuana is not a universal word by any means. Many different cultures have words referring to cannabis that are from from "marijuana". While in some places, that will still get the point across, in others it will earn you blank stares.

in portuguese it is maconha(pronounced mawconia), and some people call it beck, or herva(pronounced airva)

in russian it is "trava" (pronounced "travah") (english=herb). also it is "ganj" (pronounced "gansh"). also there are many other words like "ganjubas", "konoplya"=cannabis, "shishki"=buds. Kasha, zharyoha, kuzmich - fried with oil, sugar or without it. Managa - boiled with a milk. Plan ['plAn] - pollen rolled into a lump (i don't know english equivalent).

Yep China its known as DaMa. All the drugs are classified under that one word from what I know. If I mention it to a chinese person they think I'm talking about the off topics.

China has a medicine shop on every street. All of them sell some natural remedies, most chinese medicine is made from natural medicine. They sell Cordyceps(sp) here extremely expensive, like $100US an eighth. For those of you who don't know , its a mushroom that grows out of the brain of a caterpiller. It increases your oxygen intake capibilities of your blood and helps blood flow. China has the big natural medicine market, its sad that they were influenced by the US to ban it. Maybe they can rediscover its potential.
