I hear this like bud, weed cannabis and "solid"
From what i understand the whole plant is cannabis, so technically you don't buy cannabis.. then weed is the leaves and stuff right? whereas bud is the actual 'bud' of the cannabis like the fruit.. and its a lot more potent than the actual weed you can buy (also more expensive)
but someones been arguing with me saying weed is the real deal..
And I always thought solid was just weed or bud - not sure if it matters which# has been pressed somehow to make it into a brick like substance, not sure why. Oh and you also have the powder stuff.. i guess thats the bud grinded up into a powder using one of those grinders ive seen online.

So in terms of what I can buy, what would the street name be for all of the above things, how effective would each one be and roughly how much would each cost ?

"Bud" and "Weed" are pretty universal, and generally refer to marijuana.

You are correct in that you want to purchase the buds (or flowers) of the cannabis plant, as they are the most potent parts of the plant.
As far as buying only buds, that's really dependent on what a dealer has for sale. If they have low-to-mediocre quality weed, then it will probably have bud, leaf, stems and seeds.
If your dealer has higher quality marijuana, then it will likely be mostly bud.

As far as cost, it's dependent on the area, the supply and the greed of the dealer, really.
There is a Weights/Prices thread. I'd read that to get an idea of what other people pay for various amounts. Understand that nobody could pinpoint the amount that your dealer would charge you, unless they also buy from the same dealer. Even then it's no guarantee, as some dealers will offer better deals to friends, family or reliable, consistent, trusted customers.

Around here all marijuana is of the same (high) grade. It just goes by different names, such as weed, bud, chronic, or pot.

Solid probably refers to brick weed, which I understand is of lower quality than uncompressed marijuana.

Take a look at what you're offered, and if the source is trustworthy you can get good quality marijuana in any form. I don't see why anyone would sell or buy pre-ground weed though. Prices vary greatly from place to place. Here is the thread on weight and price.

if you want good weed ask for kush or bud or chronic

kush is universal for great weed it is also a strain

bud is just the flowers, the part that gets you the highest, asking for those always means you want mid to high quality

chronic has different meanings so learn your local meaning, in my area it means the best of the best, normaly top dollar but if your lucky you can find it cheap

that powder stuff is probably kief if its not kief than its an off topic drug, if it is kief than it will probably be a light green or light tan color, this is the best stuff if you see it grab it up immediatly, assuming that its not a mix of different drugs but the dealer would tell you cause it would be a helish cost for him if he tried selling it as kief, also kief can be aroun 60-80% THC, much better than the best of buds which are in the area of 18-20% THC

and for solid, forget about that unless you preffer getting weed that you need a gram to get a buzz off of

always go for the hairy, crystaled, non-compressed, nasty smelling weed, its just better

weed and bud refer to the buds of the cannabis plant, they're might be a few stems, leaves or seeds trapped in there.
Where I stay "solid" refers to any sort of hash.
