| Which of the following would you prefer happen to MJ in the U.S.? (Keep in mind this is hypothetical... so lets just assume what ever you pick would be guaranteed to work / be passed) I tried thinking of the most likely options that could be passed by the Government. I'll go into more detail: - Wipped off the face of the earth Pretty self explanitory - Remain illegal for everyone Medical use would be illegal along with selling, possession and use - Only used for medical reasons People would ONLY use MJ if they needed it for medical reasons. - Decriminalized to small fine. If you get caught, possession and usage is a ticket If you get caught / pulled over, if you have weed on you or if you are proven to be high you will get a small fine (larger fine if you are driving high) - Decriminalized to small fine. Possession is a ticket, usage OK Selling would still be illegal, as would possession, but you could not get a ticket for being high (unless proven high while driving) - Legal to sell (w/ license only) and possess, not to use... People could buy weed at the local liquor store or specified weed selling store (weed would be taxed). You are allowed to possess it, but if you are caught using in the presence of an officer, they could give you a ticket. If you are in your home or in a sort of "smoking bar" you could not be fined. - Completely legal You can buy, sell and possess weed and smoke it where ever you want, as long as you are not disturbing the peace. Taxes would be required. I wish I could put more options, but there is a limited amount of space for poll options. If you have any other SPECIFIC situations (don't just say "it should be legal") you wish would happen, feel free to post them. Should it be legal or illegal for anyone to sell or just people with licenses? Should it be legal for anyone to possess? Should it be legal for medical use? Only medical use? Or should it be legal for anyone to use? Any age restrictions? Try to address each of these questions so we know what your dream marijuana laws would be. Personally I would prefer it to be legal to sell and grow only with a license (to keep bad stuff from getting into it), and anyone 21+ could buy it. You should be allowed to smoke it where ever you want, as long as you aren't driving or going to be driving and as long as you aren't bothering other people. If someone asks the smoker to stop smoking around them, hopefully the smoker will be polite enough to move to another spot, or the person complaining will simply move to another spot themselves. You should be 21 or older to possess / sell / use MJ. The reason for this is because if 18 is the legal limit, those 18 year olds who are likely still in high school will be more able to sell the drug to younger students than if the limit were 21. I don't know many 21 year olds who spend a lot of time with 15 year olds. Personally, I would prefer that drug use REMAIN in the 19 years or older group (as in NO ONE under 19 would EVER use weed or any other drugs). Anyone younger than that might damage their chances of getting through high school or could damage their body or mind permanently (you're still growing... should let nature take it's course with puberty before messing with drugs). | Completely legal is the way I'm leaning on this one, but I would like to see it come in stages first, to get people acclimated to it before it's just blatantly everywhere. There should also be restrictions on places where it can be smoked, like outside places that families visit together etc. Taxes on it would be a great boost for the economy, and not requiring a license to sell would open up more opportunities for entrepreneurs to start their own businesses, like growing to supply shops that sell it, or for their own personal use.

| I'm sure just about everyone wants it to be completely legal. But I'd settle for decriminalized (18+). As for 18 year olds selling to the younger generation, it would still be contributing to the delinquincy (sp?) of a minor, just like cigs. A small ticket for getting caught with weed would be fine with me if it was completely off of my record. |

| I picked "Legal to sell (w/ license only) " rather than completely legal but the truth of it for me would be somewhere halfway between them. Given an either or though... Part of the problem is that I remember the smoke-ins we used to have around the Reflecting Pool in DC, I was at a few of them. It was lots of fun and we had a great time but in hindsight it looked like hell to the straight world and scared them for the sake of their kids. It was way too "in your face" and that was a part of what caused the shift from everyone assuming it would be legal soon to the birth of the DARE generation. Lots of fun but that and other things like it set us back. What I'd love to see is legal growth of reasonable amounts at home same as you can now brew beer at home, legal use in adult areas where you're otherwise allowed to smoke and drink, and legal sale in the same places that they now sell tobacco and alcohol. Past that, while total freedom makes a good slogan and sounds great in principle it scares the hell out of those who aren't into the culture and would likely just provoke a backlash. Again. If it doesn't actually work we can't do it no matter how good it sounds. Keeping it behind the counter and in adult areas is a better alternative than illegal and that might work.

| I voted for the wrong one on the poll, but seriously I know it's not really possible for any of them at this moment. I will go with the one that I think is the most realistic in any case that it is decriminalized. To a small fine; Possession is a ticket, but it's okay to get high. I would say anything under 28G's, an "O", would be a ~100 dollar fine. Anything over could get you a night in jail, a possible ~1000 fine for distribution, and a must appear just to get you with the court cost and whatnot (even though they wouldn't say this). |

| I would like to see it legal to possess and cultivate for anyone over the age of 21. I wouldn't mind if it were illegal to operate a vehicle under the influence, however. I wouldn't want to see any other restrictions. |
