I read in the article "Stoners in the Haze" that marijuana is considered a family value by some sections of the subculture. So what about you guys - have you smoked with your kids or parents? Did your parents smoke, but now disapprove of you doing it? Do your parents still smoke? Do your kids smoke? Do your kids know you smoke?

My parents both smoked pot, and they both know I smoke pot, but we don't smoke pot together. We probably would if it was legal though.

I smoke with both my sisters, neither of my parents smoke but they know we smoke and approve of it the same way that they enjoy alcohol. My mom actually encourages me to get high before I go over on sunday night dinners... I think its because I tell her how amazing her food is when im baked haha.

Both of my parents used to smoke. They both know that I smoke now and I talk/act openly about it. When I first started (10 or so years ago) they both knew and my mom told me "We don't think you should do that stuff". They were never very strict about it, but I was a very tame adolescent in a lot of aspects. I was an only child for 10 years and my parents are fairly young, so we kind of 'grew up' together. Thankfully, I have a very good relationship with both of my parents and have always told them the truth one-hundred percent (to the point that they didn't want to hear some of it).

I've talked my mom in to smoking with me once, which was really cool. My dad, although he has admitted to smoking one of my roaches, hasn't smoked with me... yet.

Smoking weed with my parent would just be.............. awkward.

it wouldn't feel right, not with my parents at least, even though they are major pot heads

i can imagine the awkward silence as we pass the joint, it would be unpleasant

I smoke, and my mom smokes with me when I offer.
My dad and sister don't know and wouldn't approve.

My parents both smoked pot but don't really approve of me doing it because im so young, (14) however they know that i do. I smoke pot with my brother and his friends and in fact the first time i did smoke it was with my brother (about 6 months ago) because i had been wanting to try since my friends started in 7th grade but i didnt feel comfortable doing it until my brother told me he would do it with me and that id be safe etc etc. hes a senior, im a freshmen (highschool)

My parents and sister smoke, but my brother does not (mostly because of the Iraq thing) and I smoke with them. It is a little awkward smoking with my dad, mostly because he was always the authority figure, but it has really given us a closer relationship. When I was a teenager, it gave my parents and I something in common, which is a feat all in itself...it helped me to talk to them and express my teen aged angst. I believe that without marijuana, the events of my tweens and teens would have made me have never ending hate for my dad.

Many parents although they make the personal choice too not smoke marijuana are perfectly open minded about not only its positive aspects but also detached enough from the drug itself to realize it can have harmful effects on the spirit as well as body if used irresponsibly.

This is the case for not only myself but my best friend of 12 years.

Both my parents are very against marijuana mainly due to its legal status. Both my parents deny smoking when they were younger, but i know my dad was a huge pothead when he was a teen he just wont admit it.

But smoking has brought me and my brother closer (2 years younger). Whenever were home alone we always crack out the weed and bongs
