so yea i was just wondering what you guys thought of micheal phelps getting caught smoking a roor i thought it was awesome that the person with most olympic medals ever occasionally enjoyed pot but it totally pisses me off that the whole world has been effected by anti-marijuana propaganda i mean come on people pot obviosly has no beneficial effects toward performance. i dont know i just wanted to see what you guys think. perhaps i can understand people being upset since kids may look up to him and i don't think that kids should necessarily look up to potheads but i mean the guy smoked a bong and won like 8 or 10 gold medals.....

Its terrible of what is going to happen to him, but then again he should of thought about his consequences before hittin the bong in front of a bunch of college kids. With the swimming and all, he has to much to lose so he should consider smoking weed in a private place.

I personally think this guy should be credited for this- mainly by us, pro marijuana activists.

Its just further evidence that concludes pot is indeed quite harmless.

Someone may not say it out right (that someone being with power) but it will sink in to the average misinformed citizen, subconsciencely at the least, marijuana isnt all what its said to be. A joint (hehe, joint) study should be considered by many countries, especially the Olympic governing body to finally put the age old question to rest. The list of acceptable substances in the Olympics just doesnt make sense, well, alcohol doesnt make sense to be there. First rule of thumb in physical exertion, always stay hydrated... ahem
I digress... This picture does imply what evidence that has been brought up in the past about cannabis, is inaccurate.

I can guarantee you that Mike didnt pick up the bong for the very first time AFTER his 8 gold medals.

There is really only one way to put it, Phelps played and now he has to pay. He should have had a more sense than to smoke the herb at a party where any Tom, Dick or Harry could snap a photo with a cell phone. His dumbass mistake and he will have to deal with whatever consequences come as a result.

When i watched Phelps in the olympics i knew he had at least smoked a little weed before. All the swimmers at my highschool were big potheads, and we won state like 5 years in a row. It looked like he hit that roor like a champ though. Very nice bong he's smoking out of btw. He has the most gold medals ever, i mean come on let mikey toke as much as those lungs desire.

You reap what you sow...we all know theres risks involved with smoking herb, and this guy had more to lose than most if not all of us. He made the decision to smoke, and he has to pay the consequences, just like any of us would have to. The mere fa ct he has so much more to lose than the rest of us doesn't mean we should have a different set of rules for people like him. How many Olympic atheletes are coming to the aid of random potheads who get busted across the country? How many of the millions Phelps makes have been dedicated to organizations like NORML or MPP or DPA? Why should we support someone who has the resources to actually make a considerable difference in the battle to legalize marijuana, but has done nothing that we're aware of to do so? Why flood to his defense, when he has never shown intrerest in helping get the laws changed?

That is one way of looking at it, or you can look at it as a possible tool to help legalize/decriminalize weed. The simple fact that he is one of the greatest athletes in the history of the Olympics and he is a toker helps to prove one of the biggest misconceptions of MJ is false. Just because he hasn't done anything to further legalization doesn't mean we shouldn't use him as some sort of platform to show that weed isn't bad. It's not so much "flooding to his defense" as it is using him to get a point across.
