ok...i want to make a simple bong. i cant think of anything els to use as a bowl except tin foil. i know smoking through that is dangerous and i am highly against it (i like my smoking to be more natural anyways). But sense it is a bong, will the water make it safe to smoke through or does it not matter??

let me know what you know or can find.

How do you "know" that it's dangerous? What do you imagine the danger is?

The dangers of smoking out of aluminum are entirely mythological, an urban legend that just won't go away. A couple of decades ago, scientists discovered that the brains of deceased Alzheimer's patients contained plaques that were rich in aluminum. People jumped to the conclusion that there was a causative relationship between smoking out of aluminum and Alzheimer's disease.

The fact is, aluminum is one of the most common elements on earth and we get far more of it in the foods we eat than we could ever get from smoking a pipe with a foil bowl. If simply putting aluminum into your body caused Alzheimer's, we'd all have it.

Few things, after smoking check the aluminium - do you see any burnt/ripped aluminium (i don't mean resin staying on it, cause that's normal and it's from the weed) 99,99% chances are NO , also do you taste aluminium while smoking? i doubt it, well i don't, so there's no way of aluminium smoke getting into your lungs.

Ofcourse some chinese aluminium of crappy quality maybe has a chance of burning up, but thats highly unlikely.

I've been trying to tell people this for a while. In order for it to cause you harm it must be vaporized, that is, turned into a vapor that you can then inhale. Seeing as the melting point of aluminum is 1220.6 degrees Fahrenheit and the boiling point is 4472.6 degrees Fahrenheit I highly doubt that you could heat aluminum enough to get it in your lungs. While a lighter's flame is relatively hot, around 1000 degrees Fahrenheit depending on your lighter, it would take prolonged exposure to the heat source to melt and then vaporize it. Trust me, you'd notice if it started to melt.

and if it was true i'd be fucked i smoke out of aluminum cans and i made a aluminum pipe in machine shop in high school which works badass by the way lol and i've made tinfoil pipes before still do when i dont have papers or something to smoke out of the pipe i made i use on occasion only when i have small amounts left cuz its not very big, but i've never herd it being bad to smoke out of tinfoil or anything like that as long as its not catching fire and burning up u should be fine

lol hey smoking out of cans is always good lol, unless some one ashed in them then it sux, but its easy and disposable ...i still do some times lol

yea it does i admit..sometimes tasts of old soda..or worse..i chew tabaco and some times i spit in cans...not a fun thing lol u can guess what happend thats the only time i've ever pucked while smoking pot..it was the only can me and my friends found..
