Ok so im gonna hae to get a joob soon and i was thinking,thinking and thinking.
Then i thought about a local glassworks shop so i searched it up in google and they have a website.The website is a 1 webpage website that has 4 pictures and some logos.
Its kinda basic but i was thinking mabey it could be a bit better because these days, people like to look at products form a store through the internet and its a good was of advertising.
So my idea is, Re do the Site so that there can be tabs on the side that say

Waterpipes
Pipes
Vaperizors
ect..

and then when you click on a tab,, it will bring up rows of pictures of that item (kinda like how those electronic manufactors have like tigerdirect,newegg, where its that row style of pictures.)
Then i would go in the glass works store and set something up to take good pics of the items and then update the site with the new pics.

ok questions
1. What do you think of this idea?
2. If you were the owner of the shop, would you want this service?

Ok some problems, 1, Camera, i have accsess to a weak 3.0 mega pixel camera and cant afford a new one.
2. My buddy lent me a ftp for a practice site but im not sure what program i should install for that, would anyone know? I looked at oscommerce but i dont know i have little experience in building site but what i want to do is make a site where i can easily upload photos and delete old ones so that people can see the new styles of stuff in at the store and then i delete the old ones when they get out of date.
uhh, im gonna return to this, because im pretty high right now, but yea, thoughts please

Yes, I would. Only if I could afford it, and I saw the person I was hiring had a stable portfolio in website building.

That seems like that would be a problem. Clear pictures for the pieces. However, the way you say it... Anything would be than what they currently have.

Do you know anything about building a website? Hosting? Etc?

I think in order for it to be an actual job. You would have to go from website to website, and thats the trick... Finding websites that want an update.

It all comes down to if they are hiring or not. Toothfairy is good at websites I believe. I'm sure she could give you the lowdown on the website making world.

You're going to need a portfolio dude, there are so many designers out there that they going to know why they should hire you over anyone else. I'd also say get a nicer camera if you're the one taking pictures, the higher res the better.

I am actually not the greatest when it comes to websites, I work more in print. There are a couple of ways to create and maintain a website, you can use Dreamweaver, but you have to buy and learn the program. You can also do it manually using a program like notepad, but this requires at least basic knowledge of css and html. I prefer doing it manually, you can find some basic html and css layouts in the interweb, along with various other web building instructions...Webmonkey: the Web Developers Resource This is my favorite html resourse.

i was looking at OScommerce and a buddy was advising me to make it a commerce site and im just looking for the rigt stuff to install and play with. thanks for replys, appreciated.

I think it's a good idea. My dad owns his own business, and that's exactly what he did with his site, it makes things alot easier to navigate and it's very neat and organized.

I work at Ruby Tuesday, I dunno if that's a national chain or not, but they don't drug test.
