Who out of this list of 5 is your favorite whether when you're high or not? If "other" please specify.

I voted for Carlin, but Pryor is right up there aswell. My 'other' would be Johnny Carson.

Carson would be a good pick, but these 5 had been comedians their whole lives, Carson was a late night show host for much of his tenure. I went with the "lifelong" criteria I guess.

Late-great comedians who shouldve been among the five, and not relegated to "other" status (IMHO):

1) Andy Kaufman
2) John Belushi
3) Red Skelton
4) Gilda Radner
5) Redd Foxx

Andy Kaufman yes, he was funny. But he did a fair share of acting, as well as John Belushi and Gilda Radner. I did think about Redd Foxx, so I think maybe in hindsight I should have added him. Red Skelton was ok. I was going for some natural comedians, those who didn't partake in much acting, primarily just stand up. The list would be so much larger if I went vaguely with "Deceased Funny People".

Richard Pryor broke barriers with his comedy. He influenced a whole generation of comedians. I love the early to mid George Carlin stuff, but his routines got too angry and bitter in his later years for my taste.

I also agree, but George Carlin also influenced a different kind of generation whether or not his routine was to angry. But I definitely respect your opinion, and in my opinion Carlin would only beat Pryor due to his longevity. He was doing shows almost his entire life and writing new material non stop, and I had the overwhelming pleasure of seeing him at his last show in LA at the Gibson Amphitheater.

RIP King George, you will be missed.
