I just found out im going to Amsterdam in spring. Is there anything I should know about the coffee shops? Any other tips about Amsterdam in general would also be appreciated.

I've just recently been there. I'd highly recommend the Old Amsterdam if you like a quiet place to enjoy a smoke. They don't have too many strains, any edibles or coffee but I'd highly recommend the Silver Haze. The big coffeeshops like the Bulldog get really busy at night and imo aren't what coffeeshops are meant to be about. I believe they also sell alcohol there which is probably why it looks more like a nightclub. If you haven't tried edibles I'd recommend having a go at a space cake.

Thanks dude. Do you by any chance know of any shops with a large variety of strains? I was also wondering if there is an age limit because i'll only be 17 when i go.

Yeah you have to be 18+ and they will not let you in if you are even 1 day younger. "No underage and no bullshit" is what I remember reading on one sign. The Old Amsterdam had about 15 or so strains from memory. You'll like the Silver Haze.

We also tried Greenhouse (I think it was called) and that wasn't bad. Had a ciggy smoking area out back where you could spin if you wish, but the weed only area was the main part. Dampkring is supposedly popular but I'd personally rather go to a legit coffeeshop that isn't just cashing in on tourists.

I have been to Amsterdam a few times, and used that exact map every time..it shows the better places, less touristy, and not the ones that charge a fortune...

I would personally recommend..

Pink Floyd (Now Another Dampkring)
Greenhouse effect
Greenhouse Lounge
Lost in Amsterdam
Rastababy
Grasshopper
Ricks cafe
Old church
..and many more on the map

The first few have the best range in strains and most places will have a 'menu', showing you the name, type, taste, effect and such things...if you are unsure, just ask the person behind the counter what they would recommend, they are allways very friendly and happy to offer advice.. one beautiful Dutch waitress actually gave me a free pre-rolled joint as it was my 18th birthday
I would also try some of their edibles..nothing better than a big piece of Space chocolate gateau when your high as a kite ha..

About the age, as long as you look older than 18 you shouldn't have any problem in the places listed above..like i mentioned i was just turned 18 and didn't get ID'd once
