Question how would america be different with weed?

imagine what america would be like if marijuana was legalized. i can't personally think of everything that would be different. how would it affect agriculture, society, policing, your job, government, international standing? church?

With Weed? There already is weed. Millions smoke already, if marijuana is legalized those who smoke would no longer be criminals, the price would drop, criminal assiciated if trafficing would drop and money spent on punishing smokers could be used to treat people with real drug problems.

I said a little better. One, law enforcement efforts will be focused on getting violent criminals off the streets. Two, giving people the option of another recreational drug besides alchohol might reduce alchoholism. But I don't think it's gonna be something revolutionary like the New Deal or the like.

who knows right? we will see. right now i think the key for us to come to decrim. or even legal. all depends on what happens in canada. cause the U.S. is trying to out thier foot into whats going on already.....but if it goes good for the maple leaves then it should be promising for us. but if it goes bad, i think it will be 20 years before we see change,

just my opinion, peace,

Unhappy Ouch,I don't think so....

maybe the question should be how much tax would we have to pay if it where legal,I sometimes think were better off where we are right now,if they can take money out of your pocket for gas tax,cig tax, land tax.etc, imagine a government in control of a pot tax,"no Thank You"

1. Price would be lower. Tax could be a problem but as we have seen with cigarettes if the tax or price is pushed to high it stimulates a back market. Canada is dealing with this right now.

2. Police would have to refocus their efforts away from possession of pot. Let’s face it, they don’t want to let go of their funding. Expect higher arrest rates for other drugs and expect “driving while intoxicated to jump”

3. Agriculture, trucking, manufacturing, retail, etc would jump through the greenhouse roof. There would be a different color weed for each day of the week. Flavor, brand names, packing schemes etc; it would be lots of fun. I’m not even going to dive into the textile, manufacturing and food industries.

4. Marijuana smokers would no longer live in fear.

5. The work environment would be a mess. You think it’s bad now, but employers would start unreasonable testing and many jobs would become unavailable to the marijuana smoker. In my opinion this would be one of the biggest challenges in the legalized era.

Certain jobs, such as truck drivers or pilots, get tested for alcohol, to make sure that they are not intoxicated while on the job. However, the have the freedom to enjoy a little snort when they're off the job. If marijuana is legal, why in the world would businesses have an issue with their employees indulging off the clock? It would be just like alcohol today, and I'm sure most employers would realize that an alcoholic carries more baggage than the average pothead. If cannabis is legal, the stigma disappears...

Anyway, I voted a little better.

I'm saying it, as an all grown up adult at 18 years , but as an individual. America is a better country if I have the freedom to smoke a bowl over a book before I go to bed. And the other millions like we. The country needs to go back to defaulting on the "freedom" side....

I don't know. Would you rather buy an oz of weed from a street dealer for $200 w/o paying any tax or from the local Convenient for $20 with a 100% tax? There would be no point in making the tax so high that it would be cheaper to buy illegally. People would continue to buy on the black market or grow their own.

I seriously doubt if employment eligibility standards would change. Employment is not a right, it often requires a written contract between employer and employee. Marijuana would be no different than alcohol, if it`s in your system on the job, you could either be fired, or forced into a drug treatment program you pay for that must be completed clean/sober.

I do not think legalization would change things a whole lot; the majority who use it in their youth would still forsake it when they get into their thirties and forties, or like myself, use it in moderation. It`s not much fun being chronic; about all I do when I smoke every day is chase a buzz. I build up tolerance PDQ.
