| Hi, I'm from Nova Scotia Canada and i'm in one of the few provinces where very little has ever been said or done about legalizing marijuana; So i've taken it upon myself to at least try and get people's attention. I plan on getting a group of 14 or 15 people together and go door to door getting people's opinions on the matter and hopefully get them to sign a petition. This will be on going over the next 13 to 14 months....i'm still currently working on getting the right people and getting together some kind of organizer that's presentable. So if anyone has any ideas, information or advice as to the legal aspects of going door to door or anything else i've mentioned please respond to this thread......as i've been preparing for awhile now and am very serious about this issue......please feel free to leave comments as well. | |

| Jr. Member | Nova Scotia? Go for it! With the pending legislation in Canada, by all means go for it. What have you got to lose sister?

| That's what a lot of people have been saying......so hopefully everything will work out according to plan.....i'm also going to be putting around a petition...but for the people who don't want their name on it or don't want people to know they smoke....i will also be having an opinion form....where people can just write their views and don't have to leave a name or anything : ) | |

| I hate it when strangers come to my door, so I am getting mixed feelings about this. Its good to see the truth being spread, but maby it could be spread better, in a less annoying way. Maby make a pamphlet and hand it out in public(not door to door). Good luck though.

| *POKE* High sTaYsHiGh, Welcome to CheapTalk. I say go for it, but your effort might be better spent if it is coordinated with an established marijuana reform group. There's a Marijuana Party up there, isn't there? You should hook up with them. I don't know the legality of door-to-door solicitation up there, but in Nevada people were going door to door paying people $2 for a signature to get Question 9 on the ballott (to legalize!!!) It worked for them...

I agree. There's a reason people are annoyed by Jehovah's Witnesses...You don't want people to look out their window and say "Damn, here come those stoners again. Quick, turn off the lights and hide." | |

| Hey guys thanks for replying so quickly.....there's lots of good ideas and information you guys are giving......I really like the idea about paying $2 for a signature....never thought about that....but that could get a little expensive. to tell you more about the way i'm looking at it....is....if i can at least get people's opinions...that way they don't have to sign their name....when a politician is actually in the running for legalization....all votes are private and confidential....therefore even the people who didn't want to sign the petition....will still have a chance to vote for legalization. At least the word will get spread around quicker.....don't ya's think? Keep the replys coming ![]() | |

| Seasoned Activist | I did a telephone poll in Oklahoma with my NORML chapter. It was pretty fun. We only asked 3 questions, and we had a 75% pro-medical initiative turn out. Suprised the hell out of us. Uh, I believe with the $2 per signature, it was the petitioners who got paid, not the signers. Just to clarify. And I would definetly take some pamphlets to hand out. You'll find a lot of uneducated voters out there. If you can, hook up with an organization and get them to supply the info for you, as well as a contact for more info on the movement.

| Mr. M ![]() | Go ahead man! All power to ya for speakin out for us fat (well the fat ones) lazy stoners that are mostly too lazy to rally let alone get a job, but then again that sounds more like me. Door to door can get annoying for bothsides, slammed doors and the like, plus people might just ignore ya for knocking on the door like I do. Pamphlets, or however thats spelt, are a great idea, plus vandalizing things with pro pot messages. IE stickin up posters on highway overpasses, write messages on cash, stickin up more posters in really good places. Kinda reminds me of those guys that started hanging walmart thing a ma doods, shopping carts, up into trees for everyone to see. Yes Im rambling and now Im going to bed soon.
