Default Infinity symbol or eight ball?

These are some little trinkets my husband has in his collection. We constantly disagree with what these are....

I say they are eight balls and he says they are balls with an infinity symbol on them.

What do you guys think? Eight balls? Or Infinity symbols? Or nothing special about them?

Infinity symbols?

Eight balls?

Well, they are health balls. Did he pick them up overseas? If so Id say they were infinity symbols, the 8 ball has no significance there.

I'd have to say it's an infinity symbol.

We got them at a head shop. I agree with what you all are saying...the 8 ball has no significance for what they are...but the shapes of them could be either or....thanks guys...I will leave this open to see what others say about it.

LOL the answer is a funny one:

They are actually infinity symbols and look like 8 balls at the same time.

I'd say they could be both, but someone seriously needs to stretch out the symbol to make it more apparently an infinity symbol. The ends are oval not round like 8's. The infinity symbol is a lot like a bow tie, not shaped like an eight.

I did some research. I thought they might be a precursor to what we know as the Magic 8 Ball, but the earliest origins I could find for the toy was in 1946, and there is no mention of it being based on these or anything else.

The term "infinity ball" is applied to several different things. One is a particular type of Top Flite golf ball. Besides that, it is often used on the web as a digital Magic 8 Ball. Check this out for example: http://www.ibiblio.org/team/history/...all/8ball.html

Does your husband have any connection to Scientology? "In Scientology, there are 8 dynamics of life. Also in Scientology, the eighth dynamic represents the Infinity, or God." From Wikipedia.

Online, that's all the related information I could find, maybe someone else can find more.

But I think these are both infinities AND eights. The overlap of the golden outline of the eight on the ball to the right gives it away as an infinity. But the roundness of symbols, as well as the similarity to a billiard 8 ball, makes it out to be an 8 as well. From the research I've conducted, billiards has been around at least since the 1700s, so it wouldn't be unheard of for that to be an influence. So yeah, I say 8 and infinity at once, though not sure. Could be either or.

I have a pair of those too, except the balls are shiney bare metal, with a dragon engraved on one, and a rooster on the other. If those are what I think they are (meditation balls), then it would most likely be an infinity sign on it, if not another symbol.
