| I've been thinking about this tonight. Not that I'm in any type of pain or anything, it was just a thought. What do you think is worse? For me it's a tough call, but (and some might disagree) I kind of lean towards physical pain. If I'm down I can usually manage to deal with it pretty decently. But there's something about physical pain that gives me the creeps. Not like banging your kneww and getting a bruise or stubbing your toe, but like serious stuff like broken bones or surgical stuff. Anything that includes disfigurement or mutilation. But maybe I just haven't been really seriously depressed, who knows? ![]() What are your thoughts?

| At the risk of appearing to make myself out to be a tough guy on the internet.. i've never had any problems with physical pain. It's the emotional pain that comes around every once in a while that really sucks imo.

| First off, good question. If we are talking a broken bone vs. a loss of a close loved one. I'll take the break. Now if were are talking disfigurement or dismemberment Vs. someone who is old and dying like an old grandparent (or a breakup with no one too special). Sorry gramps, but I think I'll keep my arm, ( I konw, sounds mean) . Now the real question is major pain ( dismemberment, etc..) Vs. losing a GF or wife (death), I would prob. say the major pain, hoping she would still want to be me after I had two stumps. With that said, I think the emotional pain would be worse.

| I gotta agree witrh coolguy. With physical pain, you get hurt, it sucks, but then its over with. Emotional pain tends to linger, and can creep back up just when you thought it was over. An example---The pain from a concussion I got back in highschool is long gone, yet the pain from a friend's suicide during that same time period is still with me to this day. It may not be as crippling as it once was, but its there, and not a day goes by that i don't feel it

| Well, I live with a certain amount of physical pain everyday, and it does get damned old after a while. I am also still going through a lot of emotional pain due to the death of my Dad, and a few other things. Since I am going through both, I have to say both suck.

| No doubt. Emotional pain is multiple times harder to deal with, but physical pain is just a nuisance. You get hurt, you put up with it and it heals. Sometimes, emotional pain never heals, and it's much more detrimental overrall in the end of it all. I've never had much trouble with physical pain myself. I'm not saying I don't get hurt, I just am easily able to put up with it without it effecting everyday life.

| Definitely emotional pain. Hurts much worse than physical pain. When there's something you can't get your mind off of and its making you sad/mad, its just terrible. |

| Both kinds of pain have such a wide range of intensity and duration that I think you'd have to take it on a situational basis. Some people have physical pain (from things like back injuries) that just doesn't end and live on amounts of pain drugs that would kill most of us. For others, emotional pain over losing a loved one (one's child, I think, would be the worst) can create an emptiness/sadness that never goes away. Everyone is different in their capacity to deal with types of pain, and I guess we don't know our limits until we have to deal with it.
