| I want Anarchy so I can live out my Mad Max fantasy of driving souped up cars down the middle of the road, while smoking a doobie and running down old ladies. |

Maxwell house and Folgers Coffee pay pennies to farmers to grow beans... places like Starbucks pay dollars. Considerably more, in fact. Sure, some companies pay very little, however in some places, the very little they pay is more than enough to live on. Keep in mind, coffee is a luxury item, not a food. Something like Corn has a price that's relatively fixed because people need corn, people want coffee.

I just want to grow my own food and live off of my land, you know, wood fired stoves and no running water and all that fun stuff. I don't know why I would need knowledge of economics to figure out that way of life would probably keep me out of the market to a high degree. | |

| It's a difficult question, because in "a perfect world" each and every political theory is a good one. I had to answer this question on a final exam a few weeks ago after a year and a half of intense study of all of the main philosophies of the renaissance to the present. As far as the philosophies go, I am a fan of Marx. I don't identify myself as a communist, but I have a Marxist view of history, that is, i believe that the economics of a society is the biggest influence. Not a giant fan of the Hegelian Dialect though. That said, I would want capitalism implemented in my perfect society. I would like it to be more laissez-faire than it is today, but not as much as it was back in, lets say, the 1840s in the US. In my perfect society, one of my "pillars" would be that the government should always be actively trying to find out what it shouldn;t be doing and what responsibilities can be given to private individuals. If I was a high-ranking member of Congress, for example, I would try to start a "10th Amendment Commission" and try to return as much powers back to the states as possible. In general, I believe that all politics are local, or should be. I would greatly welcome a return to (if it ever existed in the first place) to a United States with many almost-sovereign areas, each with very different laws. I believe that the Darwinian aspect of law-making is missing in today's country. I would love for states to have differing laws in many areas, to kind of set up "experiments in democracy" and kind of implement natural selection to law-making. I guess I'm a fan of the republic, all in all. It has some flaws, but you can't argue with the results....

| I chose other, and here is why: It's my personal belief that any Government will eventually try and screw it's people, and the larger it is the worse the 'screwing' will be. I'd like to see a country, sort of like the United States, that has no central Government except in times of war, and it would only remain in power untill the fighting is done. Otherwise, each individual state of the nation is governed by a system of true democracy. Elected officials have no real power in their seats in the Government, all they do is discuss the issues brought to them and compromise/alter them to benefit as many people as possible. Then the people vote a first round, which will determine general public support of said issue. Based on the success of the first round, the elected officials will alter it further to fit the people who did not vote for it the first time around, and so on untill as many people as possible approve the Issue. This way, each individual vote does matter on every issue. Officials with no power cannot corrupt a system to their benefit. The only solid system that would be in place would be a National Guard/Police system. The Police would be each state's standing army, and officers would be rotated throughout the state regularly. And, of course, the official flag of this nation would be a big Peace sign. |
