| I was just wondering how many of you out there may or may not have a problem with the world today; anything from politics, media, laws, anything. I am asking this because I have been watching lots of my local public access late at night and they have a lot of stories on Media bias, political issues that sometimes go un-reported by the big media and lots of things of that nature. another reason I decided to post it here is because I see lots of people on here giving the conspiracy theory nuts lots of shit for their craziness yet lots of the things they want to change are very real issue that have meaning in all of our lives wether we like to admit it or not. So you might be hoping i'd list specifics or something but i won't right now until some people perhaps reply to this poll but it's also almost 4 in the morning here and i need to go to sleep.

| I don't know if this qualifies but here goes. I have a problem with the outrageous price of fuel, which in turn raises the price of everything else. So far it hasn't had a major impact on me but it is only a matter of time. The price of fuel has increased waaaaay too much, too fast. My concern now is heating fuel. The winters in NNY are long and cold. Older people and some younger living on an income from Social Security, Pensions, Disability, etc. are going to have a rough time this winter to pay to heat their house. Like I mentioned, so far it hasn't impacted me that much, but older senior citizens that have the added cost to heat their house are going to be hurting. They get raises but not near enough to make up for the rapidly increasing heating costs. Many are starting to put in wood stoves that have never burned wood before in their lives. With the wood stoves, portable kerosense heaters it is going to become a major safety hazard from chimney fires to carbon dioxide poisoning. Something needs to be done about it. For example what it costs now in NNY to fill 275 gallon fuel oil tank for heating, is $200 shy of what it cost me 3 years ago to heat my house and hot water for the entire year. I never even dreamed that there would come a time when I could pump more that $20 worth of gas in my Harley or that it would cost $8 for the gas to mow my lawn (and you know how I like to mow the lawn. )It just seems ridiculous the prices are that high, when oil companies are claiming record profits. Duh.........I wonder why. It this doesn't fit. Just delete it. I got to bitch for a minute and get it out of my system. ![]() |

| You mean like making criminals out of peace loving pot smokers? Yeah! That's what **I'm** talkin' about. If we would just get back to living by our original constitution and stop printing money to give to these other countries who don't appreciate our help anyway, things would get a lot better. And if our politicians aren't going to lead us in that direction, at least make weed legal so we can puff away our problems while we wait for a candidate who is a true leader. |

| The world today kinda sucks, but if you look across history, there's a real damn good chance that it sucks a lot less for us than someone living just 80 years ago. There's always things to be fixed, something's always gonna be fucked up, and on this Sunday morning, lord, remind me that Satan does not give up... Am I happy with the world? I dunno, I'm happy for me. and I'm happy for today....

I am usually happy for myself. It's my sons and their wives, my grandson (especially), mother, wifes father, elderly neighbors (older than me), young couples starting out on their own, etc. that I worry about. I am a surviver. I have lived with almost nothing, I have lived extremely well. Now I am very comfortable. The last 5-10 years have probably been the best of my life. My wife and I can and have survived a lot. Just surviving our 35 yrs. of marriage has been a struggle at times. It's the others that I have concern about.Have a good day. 1Toke ![]() | |||

| Unhappy with the world? There's a secret answer to that. And believe it or not, it's the simplest thing in the world to do. Happiness is like water. You grab yourself a bucket full to carry around and drink. Slowly, over time, that water is gonna get old, warm, and stagnant...because you just can't drink fast enough. Your body won't handle it. But let's say you stop every few minutes to give a drink to other poor souls who are carrying around stagnant buckets. In no time at all, your bucket will be empty, and you'll have to go refill it. Only when you refill it, it'll be fresh. Keep giving your happiness to others, and you'll never go stagnant. Be a pipeline of joy, and your joy will never dry up. Then you'll always be happy with the world, no matter what state the world is in. |

| Am I happy with the world? Nope. The world is full of selfish people, and it makes me sad and angry at the same time.

| Just like what vicki said. To many selfish people. This world is going to hell in a hand basket because of the greed, and greed is a powerful thing to stop. Which I doubt it ever will.

| Happy is a very vague, relative term. Are there things that I believe could be changed? Yes, for certain. However, in the same vein that Jake's post was, we do live in a time far better than any in the past. A time when the sick receive better medical treatment than they have ever received in the past, hungry people are fed, etc. However, yes, there are major problems that do need to be dealt with. Two of them? Stock Market and realestate. Why? Because they increase in value at a significantly higher rate than the rate of inflation. Which is completely unacceptable and unsustainable in any longterm markets. It creates Bubbles. We're experiencing the realestate bubble popping, for what is possibly the first time in modern history. All of the artificially inflated value that has gone into the Housing (and land) markets is seeping back out, as people realize that 30,000 annual income doesn't qualify them for that 300,000 dollar house. The mortgage crisis is just a single facet of a much, much larger issue in my opinion. If we don't address this realestate issue soon, and I mean in the next few years, we're going to end up with an even larger bubble in the next 20 or 30 which will result in another great depression as people loose such significant portions of their life savings when the value of their homes drops then. The stock market as well, it's a 'too good to be true,' thing. You simply cannot have a market for a good that increases consistently at a rate much higher than inflation (1%/year consistently is 'much higher than inflation'), it just creates a bubble that at some point must be popped. Sorry to wax economical on you guys... ![]() Note: I might start a thread about this idea sometime later - if there's enough interest in talking about something like this. |
