I voted "we're all dying, all the time" because we're all here to fulfill a specific purpose, and when it's our time, we'll go. I'm not going to be afraid of the end when I know that when I pass, new life will come. Sure, I don't want to leave the people I love behind, but I know my death will only make them stronger as a person because pain is weakness leaving the body. The only thing I'm really concerened about is if I'm fulfilling my purpose.

I am not as afraid to die as I am afraid of someone I love dying. I can't stand the thought of one of my children, grandchild or my husband dying. I don't want to think about my life if my husband should die first. Even living with pain doesn't bother me. I have been in extreme pain before and can handle it. I just don't want to have to live my life without my husband.

Seeing someone I cared deeply about die of cancer made me think about it as well. Sorry for your loss.

It isn't really that I'm scared to die, I wouldn't even say I'm scared. I just hope I can experience as much of life has to offer before I do die. I don't believe in any afterlife, so that motivates me to make the best of the present.

and as others have said I am scared of losing other people in my life, especially since the first time was enough.

make the best of the time you have with others, my friends.

Yes, I'm scared to death of dying. I don't really believe in an afterlife or reincarnation, I think those are just ideas we came up with to comfort ourselves, an effort to barter with the inevitable. Life is full of interesting things; good or bad, it's all interesting, and there's always something new to learn from it. For me, dying is the end of a journey of discovery. But unlike most worthwhile journeys, there's no reward to be reaped, no prize to gain by it's completion. It's not death itself that scares me, it's the idea that I'll leave the world unfulfilled. I know that I'll never get the chance to experience everything life has to offer before my time is up.

Anton LaVey (author of the Satanic Bible) sums it up pretty well: "Life is the great indulgence, death the great abstinence." And as we all know, abstinence is just no fun.

Damn your good. I am absolutely prepared to die...we all do, it is how I might die that bothers me. Quick and painless yes we all want, but I sure don't want to be a vegetable. I always said no life support....but when my mother signed her DNR in July over this brain anerysum, I certainly thought twice about what that meant.

I am not afraid to die I am afraid of pain and suffering like most

I am in a way afraid to die an unspectacular death, I really want to die in an honourable way, like taking off on a 100ft+ wave, getting the biggest hollowest heaviest barrel in history and I get too deep in it and the sheer weight of the wave crushes me to death. It might not be the nicest way to die, but it is an honourable way to die, and the way I wish to die.

I always told myself (and others) that if I had to die a spectacular death, I would like to have a skydiving accident (or be pushed out of a plane) and into a cruiseliner swimming pool.

Best urban legend ever.

My preferred death? Warm, fuzzy, old, sleeping.
