I would imagine that for a great many people the reasons are purely recreational. However, many people do self medicate for problems not really diagnosed by a doctor, such as depression & anxiety.

I went for spiritually. It gives me inspiration and relaxation. Sometimes I take a few month break to focus on getting things done. Working out the great plans I get stoned.

There is an undeniable recreational element to my career as a potsmoker too btw. And should I ever be in such a position, I'm quite positive I'd research the herbs medical use.

I smoke it for recreation but the older i've gotten I have noticed the herbs medicinal abilities first hand.With spina biffida and rhumatoid arthritis and degenerating disc disease in my lower back marijuana has given me some of the best pain relief ever from the symptons of these conditions.I just see it as a beneficial perk of the plant.Of course it may have been designed as a medicinal plant from the get go making the sweet high one gets from it a nice recreational perk...

I consider myself a recreational smoker and a spriritual smoker. whenever I research things and am just hanging out, smoking just allows me to think clearly. It reminds me how ignorant people are when they discriminate on pot smoking. Smoking pot over the years keeps my mind focused on furthering my studies and on governmental issues. the reason is b/c everytime I smoke and sit there just relaxing the first thing i think of is how could something so innocent be thought of as a crime. People going to jail and treated like criminals for smoking a damn joint. How do people think that our government and law makers are looking out for our best interest when beer, liquor, and cigarettes are being sold. You drink a 12 pack of beer and you can barely walk, you act obscene, and you don't think at all. The most your gonna do on pot is get the munchy's and maybe go through drive through, ( prolly just order a pizza, cuz you know your not gonna wanna get up and drive or do anything ).. sorry this kinda loss focus and started to rant. But I get worked up on the subject. All of these fear tactic adds about people smoking and killing other people (hitting people on bikes and leaving kids alone.. ) you must be joking me if you think that people who drink beer and get drunk don't do those same things or worst. Those commercials make me feel ill. But anyways just got involved on the website. Happy to find it, and hope to hear other opinions from people on here. Thx

Marijuana allows me, as a recreational smoker, to Meditate on how connected I am to everything around me. My mind flows through the natural attachment and harmony of humans and nature and animals, the way stoners subconsciously interact with eachother. I just feel like the world would be so much more perfect if people would relax and spark a J.
I also like to get high and roll around on the ground sometimes...

I enjoy smoking a strong indica before I go to bed, it allows me to sleep deeper, I'm usually a very light sleeper, almost any little noise will wake me up instantly. As for the day time, I enjoy a strong Sativa/Indica cross. As for methods, eating cannabis can be a amazing experience if you have th etime and product to make it.

I didn't vote anything, because you cannot select more than one. I smoke for pleasure, so that's one for recreation. I smoke for medical reasons, so chaulk one up on that end too. I also smoke for spiritual reasons, it helps me meditate, relax, and inspires questions and thoughts that I normally don't think about so freely. So I guess I'm a tri-user, 30% spiritual, 30% recreational, and 40% medicinal

I voted recreational, although I use it for medicinal purposes as well, for chronic pain.

I also have a hard time sleeping - think Fight Club - and smoking a little helps me fall asleep.
