Default We're on the new webserver, how's it feel?

I have recently completed migrating Marijuana.Com to a new webserver. Our new server is a dual Xeon 2.4Ghz with 2GB ram and 2 80GB SCSI drives.

In the process of the migration I upgraded each of our server software packages including, apache, PHP, mysQL, zlib, GD as well as a new server software and filesystem sturcture. The new server is a Dell PowerEdge 1600SC.

I'd like to know how the performance is for you?

It's noticably faster than before. However, it would still take a long time to load up on an older computer like a P166 because the spiffy graphics, like the background. Try it on an older computer or visa versa to see the difference.

Ummm, I would think that the speed of the page loading would be restricted by your internet connection, not by your processor.

If you're on dialup, a page loads slowly whether you're using a P1 or a P4. If you're on broadband (from my experience, though I haven't used a P1 in a few years), a page loads quickly regardless of your processor.

I mean, it doesn't take THAT much processing power to display an image on the screen. If it did, then back when P1s were the shiznit Windows wouldn't even have the option of desktop backgrounds.

The website is very slow in my Computer. The server of marijuana.com is fast but some people have still 56k modems. The pages downloading very slow because of ads and images.
