You need to do a search on "schizophrenia". You are buying in to the DARE propoganda on that issue and you might want to make up your own mind based on the facts about Marijuana and mental illness.

Just type in schizophrenia on our handy search engine and do some reading.

I have to agree with kurt.
I asked my doctor about the harm in smoking marijuana (long term)... chronic cough and schizophrenia were the only two (that have been bakced up by "real" evidence).

Rich, I would like to read any published study directly linking marijuana with schizophrenia. Though I don't presume to have read every publication, it hasn't come across my desk in any reputable journal. I hope you understand that any study can be skewed to present one perspective or another. The articles published to date read alot of; might be due to, increased PROBABILITY of, could be tied to, or those predisposed to,ect......

"May precipitate latent schizophrenia in predisposed patients."
in other words:
"May cause shizophrenia in patients that are prone to it."
indeed, they use big words to twist the results.

Actually it means:

...Smoking pot may preceed the first schizophrenic episode in those who are schizophrenic and have not yet experienced an episode...

But current information is that it really is not linked to the appearance of schizophrenia's symptoms at all.

Many highly functioning people with schizophrenia rely on cannabis to offset the side-effects of their medication and relief from symptoms associated with this illness.

It is definatley harmfull...how can anybody say it isnt? First off it damages your lungs, empairs your reflexes, and KILLS SPERM CELLS. I have had many discutions with many doctors who have proven to me it is harmfull. If smoked to much your sperm count does decrease and trust me..haven a child is out of the question. LOL and the big one addiction. How can any of you say its not addicting??? Its a mental addiction AHAHAH...so is every other drug or cigs. To think you need 2 do it means its addicting, its not as strong but sure its with out a doubt addicting.

Don't get me wrong i dont think its bad..i think MJ is great. I smoke it and love it. MJ makes life much better for those who REALLY need it.

Only while you're high. There is no long-term effect.

KILLS SPERM CELLS.
It slows the production of sperm cells. When you stop smoking it goes right back to normal. Unfortunately it doesn't work well enough to serve as a birth control method.

Doctors are notoriously ignorant about marijuana (except for those that smoke).

One out of a hundred smokers is a daily smoker, so it can't be too addictive. Many drugs are physically addictive. Marijuana is less physically addictive than coffee if it's physically addictive at all.

There are some people who have addictive personalities. Those people will get physically or mentally addicted to just about anything pleasurable (or painful if they're bent that way). Other people are so far at the other end of the scale that they'd have a hard time getting addicted to various off-topic poppy derivatives. Addiction seems to have a lot more to do with who you are than what you put into your body.
