It's not harmless, nothing is.
But in my opinion, the good FAR outweighs the bad.
And that's as harmless as anything can get.

It's a little bit of both.
ANYTHING can be harmful if used in the wrong way.
Marijuana is not comepletely harmless, but it is alot better compared to other off-topics, alcohol, & tobacco.
In fact, compared to alcohol and tobacco marijuana is alot less harmful (notice my choice of words, less harmful, not harmless)
Yes marijuana is somewhat harmful but not nearly as much as the other things out there. And it only becomes truely harmful when it is abused.

There is a right and wrong way to use marijuana. So use it wisely and there should be no conflicts with it.

Default "Is it really harmless?"

is the wrong question. It's the kind of question that prohibitionists ask because they know that nothing is harmless. Is water harmless? It depends on how much you drink or how far under it you are. Is air harmless? It depends on how hot, cold, or thin it is. Is light harmless? It depends on the frequency and intensity.

The question that should be asked is whether or not the benefits outweigh the costs. The answer to that one is pretty clear. Whatever slight risks using marijuana entails, the benefits are great enough that the risks seem insignificant.

Inhalation of smoke is harmful. That`s why vapourizers are popular now. But, they still refuse to guarantee the safety of inhalation therapy.

Since the average gaylefario does`nt really want to be dragging a $600 machine everywhere he might toke up, besides the difficulty of finding a place to plug the damn thing in. Not many of US are really interested in shelling out that much bread for a novelty either.

The very existence of the vaporizer conclusively proves the harmful effects of smoking alfalfa, cloves and marijuana.

Decreased respiratory symptoms in cannabis users who vaporize

Abstract

Cannabis smoking can create respiratory problems. Vaporizers heat cannabis to release active cannabinoids, but remain cool enough to avoid the smoke and toxins associated with combustion. Vaporized cannabis should create fewer respiratory symptoms than smoked cannabis. We examined self-reported respiratory symptoms in participants who ranged in cigarette and cannabis use. Data from a large Internet sample revealed that the use of a vaporizer predicted fewer respiratory symptoms even when age, sex, cigarette smoking, and amount of cannabis used were taken into account. Age, sex, cigarettes, and amount of cannabis also had significant effects. The number of cigarettes smoked and amount of cannabis used interacted to create worse respiratory problems. A significant interaction revealed that the impact of a vaporizer was larger as the amount of cannabis used increased. These data suggest that the safety of cannabis can increase with the use of a vaporizer. Regular users of joints, blunts, pipes, and water pipes might decrease respiratory symptoms by switching to a vaporizer
Background

Cannabis smoke contains gaseous and particulate matter with the potential to create symptoms of respiratory problems [1]. Although cannabis creates fewer problems than cigarette smoking [2], increasing its safety has the potential to improve quality of life. One step toward increasing the safety of cannabis involves the use of vaporizers. Vaporizers heat cannabis to temperatures that release cannabinoids in a fine mist without creating the toxins associated with combustion [3,4]. Although vaporizers are not common knowledge in popular culture, a recent photograph of one appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine [5], and information about the machine is becoming more available. A vaporizer has the potential to increase the safety of cannabis use, but data from human users appear only rarely [4].
The potential for cannabis-induced lung problems is particularly important in light of frequent concurrent tobacco smoking. Cannabis use may prove especially detrimental in the production of respiratory symptoms in cigarette smokers. For example, one study revealed increased respiratory symptoms in cannabis dependent 21-year-olds, but particularly in those who also smoked cigarettes. Cannabis dependence in the absence of cigarette use led to symptoms comparable to smoking 1–10 cigarettes per day, but quickly escalated when cannabis and tobacco were combined [6].
Harm Reduction Journal | Full text | Decreased respiratory symptoms in cannabis users who vaporize

Vaporizer users might be more inclined to minimize respiratory symptoms than people who smoke cannabis in other ways. The price of a vaporizer can range as high as hundreds of dollars. Vaporizers also lack some of the convenience of other methods of marijuana use. Users who have spent this much money and effort might minimize reports of their respiratory symptoms, consciously or inadvertently, in an effort to justify their actions. Only a more objective measure of respiratory function that does not rely on self-report can sidestep this potential problem. Laboratory measures of lung function would make a nice addition to further work on this topic. Nevertheless, roughly 1/3 of the participants who used a vaporizer (52/152) did report symptoms, suggesting that self-report biases on symptom reports likely does not account for the entire phenomenon.

Back in your foxhole soldier.

I know you`re not attacking; even if you did, I`ve resolved that I shall behave myself here and forgo retaliation. I have another venue where rabid anti American uncircumcised Phillistine dogs get their just desserts from me.

That`s good news that your Asthma has been cured, but being a pragmatist leads me to ask the audience; would you rather marijuana be considered as medicine, or a recreational drug with some beneficial effects?

We are getting very close to tthe time when the US FDA has authority to regulate tobacco. I dread that day; not because I smoke roll your owns, but because our f!@^%#*!! government has for years been bowing to large corporations interests by passing regulatory measures which make it almost impossible for the little guy to survive. Frankly, I subscribe to the belief that Maryjane should remain a states rights issue. I can remember all the way back to Lyndon Johnson`s tenure in office when I first began to take note of how quickly the US Federal Government began to grow. Since that time, it did not matter who was in the Oval Office, the authority and regulatory authorities of the government expanded to the point that it began to intrude into our personal affairs and when globalization kicked into high gear, the government began pulling some really underhanded, nasty shit catering to the needs of corporate America without regard for the needs of Americans, nor the safety and security of the nation as a whole.

Medicine? A friend calls marijuana dope. Several others of us used to ride his ass about this until one day, we all simply caved in and were forced to admit that the effects of marijuana are not inconsistent with any other substance others call dope. I say let marijuana become a safer alternative for alcohol within individual states and keep the feds out of it entirely. Right now, nationally, it appears that public opinion is polarized too much to have a good chance of getting marijuana accepted in the entire country. Our poll results reflect this opinion.. Wouldn`t it be peachy keen to have an intra state product outside the control of the US government? Now that`s change. I am certain that the Senator from Illinois` change shall be more of the same shit Americans have had forced forced on them for a little over four decades. And the Senator from Arizona shall have his power base likewise if he gets eelectrotated.
