Being a high school smoker I believe it will be legalized when my generation gets in their forties. Now american teens have the highest weed use in decades, now not only the classic "stupid stoner" is smoking even kids who enjoy school smoke. Bud is becoming mainstream in my generation not an alternate subculture. When my generation gets in their fortys they will realize the path to eradicate cannibus didn't work in the from the very beginning. Right now the goverment, especially because of Bush , won't legalize it because then they would admit defeat to the war on cannabis. Even though they know it would make them a ****load of money, which they love. But how could they after spending millions of your tax money on anti-pot propaganda and saying how bad it is for you ,based on biased goverment testing, just say it was all a big mistake and marijuana isn't that bad for you. Kind of like the war on Iraq they can't admit a mistake. Why else do you think Bush won't allow private companies to test marijuana, if it were really as bad as they say it is then why not let unbiased scientist prove the same? Does the goverment belive that one day everyone will think pot is bad and no one will ever use it again? The war on pot is a faliure, give me 5 min and $20 and I can get weed driven to me at my house, I can't do the same with cigarettes or alcohol. Even in my high school I can get weed so easily.

Like Rick I'm getting old fast, or it seems that way. It is frustrating to see the same old ideas come around over and over just to be crushed once again. I remember when we would smoke almost openly and thought then that we would be able to change the conscienceness of those that opposed us. Once again those student council leaders of the past are running the country and making those unrealistic demands on their classmates. Back then we just ignored those nerds, narcs, teachers pet, squares, whatever we called each other. Now I am taking most of what I disagree with calmly and with a grain of disbelief and traveling to Amsterdam to express myself. I hope and I hope and thats as much as I can deal with now.

i think canabis will be legalised in our lifetime but not for a while. i believe somethin will be created that will be able to control the "unwanted affects" of marijuana eg relapse etc.

i rekon it will just be sold like alcohol, only to ppl over 18 yrs or possibly even 21yrs. as soon as it happens im gonna buy pound of chronic and just toke away

Mama,

Marijuana prohibition started in earnest with the Marihuana Tax Act in 1937.. Since then we are creeping up on 70 years of prohibition.

Don't you think at some point between Democrat and Republican administration.. from both right wing to left.. that at some point these figures have already been worked out.. re worked and worked again?

Congress, The White House, and the majority of seats on the courts have passed between both parties..

Marijuana is not going to be legalized.. Period.. There's too much money to be had by to many people to keep it illegal.. from the Prisions for Profit industry that houses non violent drug offenders to the Pharmacutical industries which would lose 10s of millions of dollars if Marijuana were legalized.. To the Budweisers and Millers which would lose market share having to share space with another legal intoxicant..

Couple that with the fact that Marijuana is not a priority for the majority of people.. Hell even here on the foremost Marijuana activist website on the net many other issues trump Marijuana legalization for many people.. Most people vote the status quo and for prohibitionist canidates when given the chance.. because other issues trump MJ legalization.. It's simply not as high a priority as War, the Economy or Moral issues (abortion, gay marriage) or keeping the opposite party out of power for most people..

Until we have an open system where multiple political parties can present viewpoints on equal footing with the established two.. We won't be seeing any major change to the status quo.

I'm sorry, I cannot see how a few federal beurocrats putting a pen to paper will change the prohibition scheme that has survived 70 years..

The big difference now? Information.

More people have more information on this topic than ever before. Why? The Internet...and places like say, Marijuana.com

Cool yeah but...

Even with all this information we managed to elect these people yet again. and this Supreme Court stuff didn't help one bit..

Good news is at least the mayor of vancouver bc is talking the truth.. maybe it will catch on over here.. but i'm not holding my breath.

I like, Rick, would have voted Yes before this year.. now i'm no so sure.

i believe it will be legal in my lifetime only from hope. i guess if i didnt believe it would that would be like giving up. imo. if the us made mj legal do you think china or russa...etc. would think are goverment/country is weak?? i dont think this would cause probs but maybe?? also they make so much money from the arrest of mj users, since mj posession/intent..etc is a large portion of who there aressting. i think a much larger portion of the u.s. would severly want mj to be legalized. i think a smarter knowledge of commen sence will evolve in people in time, thus possibley legalizing hemp/mj and better things to come for the world. i also think times then will get severly bad for peps while fighting for a better world or just a better world. or much more i dont know. i think too much of outcomes and ways. i think i just think too much

On the contrary it would indicate that the United States actually responds to it's People, rather than merely reflecting the desires of the WhiteHouse.

Russia as a "super-poer" as it was in the 50's 60's and 70's is no longer such, since the break up of the Soviet Union.

What is of more concern are the various Nuclear (nucular if you are a Bush) Powers.

Well I am some sort of a naive guy. And I knew nothing about Cb2 receptors (that are activated by MJ and supposed to play a key role in immunity and all sorts of beneficial activities in controlling several humans epidemiological prominent and serious diseases) before about one month ago, when I joined this board. Again, I know little about US policies and politics, pharm companies interests, and World Health Organization thinking. I searched though, medical libraries, for basic and fundamental research on the MJ potential to treat disease and conditions. It looks to me that soon MJ will be a component of multivitamins pills.
