I'm almost for sure that your personal DNA is yours to do with as you will. So, following this line of reasoning, wouldn't something made from your DNA be your's? If I make a million clones of me, would they all belong to me? Does slavery enter into this, or since clones don't have a soul, is it all right to own them or store them for future use as organ donations?

Do clones have a soul? What would be the verdict on that? Are they human or the work of the devil? Is it the same or do you think it is somehow unholy or unclean?

You can do anything with your DNA you please, and if you wish to make a mini you (or a mini half you - half another person), it's only "yours" for 18 years, until it's deemed old enough to take care of itself.

If you had a twin, wouldn't it be a clone of you or would you be a clone of it?
I think that once this clone becomes self aware, then its human with all the rights given to other humans, regardless of how they were created. In the slave South, there were those who felt that black people had no souls and were marked with the symbol of Cain. If they were wrong about black people, isn't it possible for clones to have souls?

Childrearing Tro? If I raise a cow to maturity am I supposed to set it free when it reaches maturity? The issue I think that concerns me the most is if you buy a clone, isn't it yours? If not then why not? I bought it and payed for it to replace my body parts, so I am going to kill it eventually, so where does the line get drawn?

How does it have a soul? It takes yours, or a part of yours? One soul per person, right? So how is that going to work out?

BTW...have you ever seen that movie called "The boys from Brazil"? I believe thats the name of it....it was made in the 70's I believe. They made several clones of Hitler and put them around the world and attempted to recreate his childhood.

As the population as a whole creeps up to the 10 billion level, I'm assuming there are more than enough to go around.
Here is a question...Do babies conceived in a test tube have a soul? Does temporarily living on the other side of a vagina give us a soul?

I really don't know the true meaning of the word "soul". I can assume it means spirit but then what is spirit? Is it that self awareness that we all possess? And if so, then do people in a coma have a spirit or soul? The Bible says we all have one but it's kind of intangable.....like the national debt.

It's not "yours," no more than a child is.

We already have artificial insemination. You payed for that, but the child that results would be no more "yours" than a regular child.


No where did we say that this would be legal.

Cloning has more uses than simply to replace body parts. If you'll refer to my first post in this thread, you'll see a bit about the potential legality of this. I'll elaborate at the end of this post.

"Soul" is an abstract and unproven concept, with very little, if any, scientific proof.

My elaboration.

There are multiple types of cloning, I'll list them.
Singular cloning; the act of cloning single parts of the human body (An arm, a leg, a bone, an organ). This could be done without any legal repercussions, because it doesn't involve any form of sentience (self awareness).

General Cloning; the act of cloning a whole body, can be divided into two sub-sets.
1) Braindead clones. No selfawareness involved, taken from "birth" to "death" without any brain activity, and therefore would be basically an "incubator" for organs. Depending on the given morality at the time of invention, legislation could vary.
2) Cloning; Would basically be Artificial Insemination, but with only 1 set of DNA.
