Could we make like a super human? Just kidding.

If cloning was allowed. Would that open the doors for extreme experimentation? If anything, it would be good for curing diseases by working with an actual human being without worrying about killing someone with the side effects.

And what would be wrong with making a "super human"? They would make excellent sports and military personnel, but they would be individuals as well.

Cool

What about a soul? This is going to be a tough queston for the religious. I can hear the cries of abomomination already. A test tube or a clone from a tank, it is still human. Now, I agree with the over population problem, and we sure don't need anymore people desperately. I don't really think the world is ready for two of me cause they can't seem to get a grip on the one they have.....

But in order to continue this cloning, where does the end come in? I saw a classic Twilight Zone about an old couple who wanted to get cloned and put their old brain in the new body. Isn't this murder if we allow it to happen? The clone is human and so has the same rights as any citizen, right?

I don't think the research should be stopped by the government over stem cells that are procured from an embryo that is going to be discarded any way. Whats the point? If this could give us a way to help people with the need of a fresh organ, why not save the ones that are here, and give cloning a chance? It seems like the human thing to do, right?

I saw that episode and I'm not sure if their new bodies were robots or bodies with a vacant slot where the brain goes at. If the body was built with no brain in it then that would be okay. IF we have a soul, then it must surely rest in your brain IMHO.

All I know is that cloning creeps me out. I'm not going to stop someone else from using that techonology, but for me it wouldn't be right cloning a family member or friend.

Also bad choices.

Has anyone mentioned that the use of DNA in crimes would be rendered useless for clone suspects...?

I didn't think of that. Can we do that without altering the DNA?

Theoretically the Telomere should reveal a clone against a naturally conceived person... but if the technology to prevent Telomere shortening is developed and it was possible to make indistinguishably cloned tissue, even if illegal, who's to say it wouldn't happen?

I see. So there's something fundamentally different in the DNA of a clone as opposed to a person who was naturally conceived?
