first off nicotine is not added to tobbacco, its in the plant, like THC in pot, that's what creates the effect. the extra chemicals found in most manufactured cigarettes are not to make them more addictive for the most part, each chemical has a purpose. There are chemicals in cigarettes to change flavor, to mask the smell, make it burn faster or slower, Marlboro even has chemicals that make sure a cigarette goes out on its own if you drop it onto your floor.

My answer, however, (sorry for the pointless nitpicking) is that these companies know smokers will smoke, so they don't need to add anything addictive. They probably would add other chemicals though for some of the above effects (especially flavor and scent) and others.

Also, I agree with a lot of the other posts that many people would grow their own or buy all natural in pouches, like i do with my cigarette and pipe tobbacco.

Yes, however the tobacco companies have also developed ways to increase the nicotine content of cigarettes. These include:

~ Adjustment of tobacco blends by using high-nicotine tobaccos and higher nicotine parts of tobacco leaves to raise the nicotine concentration in lower tar cigarettes;

~ Addition of nicotine to fortify tobacco stems, scraps and other waste materials, which are processed into reconstituted tobacco - a product that is used in signficant quantities in most major cigarette brands;

~ The genetic engineering of tobacco plants to substantially boost nicotine content.

There are also a host of methods used to increase the absorption of nicotine into the system

on top of 900+ chemical additives they are not legally required to publish (which in all probability have addictive properties in themselves)

stay away from tailor made cigarettes kids!

Nicotine is EVIL, EVIL, EVIL!!!! Seriously guys, if you haven't started smoking cancer sticks, do yourself the biggest favor you could ever give yourself....DON'T START. Take it from someone who knows.
