hey ya'll, this is my first real post of a question on this site... I am just learning how it works. So I have a question.... what makes a stoner a stoner?? what is the difference between someone who smokes pot and a stoner?? I ask this because I smoke ALLOT of pot...... most of the time I wake up and smoke...... and smoke little amounts throughout the day. I am pretty productive and get all my school work done on time and ****.... I even get good grades for the most part!! I have allot of freinds.... I chill... I surf all the time... bla bla bla.... I am even an Eagle scout and have a part time job working at one of the best hotels in the nation. I know where I am going in my life, I know how I want to get there but........... All of this being said I still feel like I should not smoke pot as much as I do! I feel like a stoner even though I get my **** done and am on the right track. why is this?? should I feel this way? is the POT making me feel this way?? I have read that pot CAN make you feel depressed..... but I dont feel depressed....what is the deal???? does anyone else ever have this happen to them??

P.S. I used to hang out with a bunch of stoners all the time and all they did was smoke pot, but then some of them got arrested and **** so I dont hang out with them anymore..... now I hang out with people who dont smoke pot but are way cool with me smoking pot.... they NEVER give me **** for it, in fact, they often incourage my pot smoking. I didnt feel like I should smoke till I was around them though...... does anyone this hanging out with non-pot-smoking people is the reason I think I shouldnt smoke???

Well, you sound like you answered your own question. You sound like you have a great life and you just smoke pot to enhance it. Although my view of a stoner is positive (just being sum1 who smokes pot alot), most people view of a stoner is sum1 who has no ambition or goals in life except for smoking pot. From what you've said you are most definately NOT a steriotypical stoner. It sounds like you've got some awsome friends (kinda remind me of my good friends) who will be there for you and you can count on unlike those other friends you said got arrested. I mean you have friends, a part time job, get good grades, and smoke alot of pot! What more could you ask for? You probably feel the way you do because you feel guilty about smoking pot. If i smoke during the day if im home sick from school, i dont rele enjoy my high b/c subconciously im feeling guilty about not being in school and smoking when i could be doing sumthing more productive. Thats why i lvoe to smoke at night or on a nice day outside to enhance nature....you sound like you've got a good life and know where you want to go so stay in school fool!

First of all, I don't even consider how successful a person is when passing out the "stoner" label. Smoking weed is part of it but there are things such as what you do for fun, how you dress, how you act, etc that all fit into the category for me.

Second, for the most part, people like having similar interests. The fact that your friends now DONT smoke pot could definately be at least part of the reason for your feeling guilty. Even though they support you they aren't smoking are they? How about your parents? How do they feel about smoking pot?

My suggestion: Keep those friends but make some other friends toke as well. It's nice to smoke with other people and this will most likely make you feel less guilty about it all.

That and remind yourself that smoking marijuana is not a bad thing as long as you handle it.

Something just stood out in that post to me, and I probably made the wrong assumption, but you said that you had some 'stoner friends' that you quit hanging out with because they got arrested. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but every time you smoke or have any bud in your possesion you are opening yourself up to get arrested too. That just seems like an uncool thing to do to me, although they probably got arrested for something more serious than just posession right?

Other than that though, I dont see being called a stoner a bad thing either... but I guess some people perceive it that way. Bah humbug.

I don't believe in labels and I honestly don't care what anybody says about me. I smoke when I want to smoke... whether that is all day long or once a month. I do what I want, when I want, however I want. I don't even consider weed a "drug". You don't get addicted to it unless you give it power over yourself.... and that applies to anything. You can't "overdose" on weed and nobody has ever died from it.

yo man, thanks for tha words..... I think your right for shore, and I know what you mean about the day time being able to ruin the high. Part of it may be that I dont always go to class, and allot of the times I dont go to class I am smoking when I should be in class.... the thing is that it doesnt matter that I miss this class and I have a good grade in it. I think its just that natural tendency we all have to be doing what everyone else is doing.... or that there is just one way to do things. Anyways...... I think your right and thanks for takin ur time manG!!

ya know what... I think that the point you made about my parents could be a very very large part of it. My dad is SUPER against drugs of any kind(illegal I mean) and I dont really know about my mom, I just dont talk about that kinda thing with her. But this is the thing.... my dad is really against drugs now and I swear if he knew that my brother and I smoke pot he would pull us outa college so fast and make us move back home... on the other hand... we were going through some old boxes and we found a "how to grow marijuana" book in his stuff. He says it was his freinds book.. who knows!!

Also, I do still have allot of freinds who smoke... I just dont chill with them as much, but when I do chill and smoke with them I feel allot better than when I just smoke alone with my other freinds. and one last also...... you are right about the clothes thing... I think that is a big part of it... how you present yourself. I think cause I never dress like a stoner I never get the label from freinds...... thanks for the words bro

yo man, thanks for takin tha time to drop a line, but here is the deal........ the guys that got arrested did not get arrested for pot... it was for stealing a bunch of ****..... and I had not been hangin out with them for a lil while when they stole the stuff. Them stealin **** just reinforced to me that I should not be chillin with them. As far as my own exposure to the law...... I know that when I have pot on me I am putting myself in the path of potential trouble..... I am not a new pot smoker by any means.... I know the laws to... in fact... here in Cali it takes ALLOT to get arrested for anything regarding pot.

Since I'm in school and this class is almost over I'm not gunna take too much time scanning the other replies... so here's my beliefs sorry if it's a repeat...

A stoner is someone who loves smoking pot and does it a lot... they probably do it to enhance their mood and stuff... but for the most part they enjoy pretty much just the high.

A pothead (or a person who smokes pot) is someone that views it as an art. They're good at crafting bongs/homemade stuff and enjoy and appreciate glass... and they enjoy doing all these things. When they smoke they put their high to it's fullest potential.

A stoner is a smiley face... a Pothead is a lightbulb.

meh there really isnt much difference between the two terms I think.

the stoners use them in positive ways but the people who arent down use it as a negative term.

Personally, I'm neither a pothead or a stoner, I'm a marijuana enthuisast
