Yes that is true but can't that be applied to almost everything? I mean the dealers are the main cause in the "gateway effect". The ''gateway effect'' generally refers to the fact that smoking marijuana causes the user to want to use more drugs, and not the influence of the dealers to others. The hardcore Dealers generally give the opportunity to others to make more money. And you can be introduced to marijuana by other factors. I was introduced to it by my friends and ive been smoking for a year or so and I have had no urge to do any other drug besides the occasional 'sip' of alcohol. And I HAVE had random people come up to me or message me and ask me to try some other shit, because i once bought my weed from one of the hardcore dealers at my school, and i regret it.. So just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen. And im not saying its ALL dealers, but there are some who do that. Because my friend is a dealer and he actually refuses to associate himself with any other drug besides marijuana. And im sure a big majority of herb-smokers who have only smoked pot have never had an urge to do any other illicit drugs UNLESS someone encouraged them to do so. So maybe, in general, we're both right? P.S. I actually got the "dealer theory" from another forum im not sure if it was on here or on a different website. | I do not believe weed is a 'gateway drug.' It is my belief that if you are meant to go on and use harder drugs, then you will. Whether or not you have smoked marijuana prior to use of harder drugs has no effect. I know of many people who are addicted to hard drugs and never got involved with weed until much later in their addiction. |
