Well you said that alot better than I ever could have. I agree with you about Forums versus Journals = Ideas versus Religion. Ideas and forums are more a place were you talk to other people about things and open-mindedly build your mindset based on what others think of what you think. Journals and religions are where you stubbornly tell others your ideas and then leave it like that, your ideas are final and you aren't open-minded about it at all.

Robert E. Feist's the Riftwar and the Serpentwar sagas introduce a "buddhist" mage / philosopher by the name of Nakor, who discovers the nature of god and the universe.

Maybe information he shares, in the books, can be googled instead of having to read them all (although they are a very good read and also poses other questions beyond the scope of fantasy and entertainment).

Basically, he shares beliefs that compliment mine and my fairly recent (since I started reading the Serpentwar saga and finished it, about two years ago) clarity in such existential and philosophical matters.

Namely: Acts of nature and the nature of things being attributed to the will or work of god or of gods. God being synonymous to the universe in many ways.

An important realization he has, concerning god/the universe and conciousness/sentience (also shared and more scientifically discussed in an article I read about souls, and how much information electrons can carry, and that "god" created things so he could understand himself [natural selection, like the natural selection of religions and their perpetuation]) is that god, or the universe, lacking in understanding of its own origin, creates less constant structures, galaxies, stars, solar systems, planets, animals, humans, to understand its own existence. Imagine someone creating a scenario to understand a situation (all that "god" can do is hypothesize) and this is all a dream, a thought, etc, of a god or gods, but ultimately leading back to it being the dream or a hypothetical scenario "thought up" by god or the universe.

Well I get high mainly because I started. I wouldn't call it an addiction. Say every day is breakfast. Breakfast is your most important part of your day. Emotionally, physically, but not spiritually, I'm not native. Anyway, your breakfast is composed of a lot of stuff like pancakes, toast, eggs. Getting high is like adding five stripps of bacon, extra syrup, maybe some salsa to your eggs if you like it that way. I get high to add more fun to a fun experience. It's like adding kif to a hit, it's just extra.

I seem to be the odd one out in that when I'm high, I don't like to write, draw, compose, or perform spiritual activities, and I'll tell you why.

Please don't think me a braggart, but I consider myself to be a pretty intelligent person. I like to think that I have a sharp mind and have the ability to create my life the way I want to. As many already know, being an intelligent person isn't easy; you often have to take charge of situations, people come at you from left and right for advice, and you generally have to do the brunt of the work until you elevate yourself to an executive position, figuratively (or literally) speaking.

So, my short answer is because I like to get high. My more elaborate answer is that when I'm high, I can just kick back, watch some tv or listen to music, eat some snacks, and chill out. It's my chance to let loose and relax. Marijuana is a natural substance that enhances your physical and mental senses, and when used by intelligent, mature people, can be a natural, effective way to either enhance what you do, or conversely, to mellow out and take it easy for a while.

hate to have such a bunk answer, marijuana is the cure imho for so many ills in society. depression, disease, MENOPAUSE, so many things i believe this is the wonder herb that is natures gift to anyone who is smart enough to harvest a cannabis plant.

however.. i just love being high - and thats why i smoke..

I smoke weed because its a fun experience just like anything I do for fun... so basically I do it cause it is fun... and just because you break the law by smoking weed doesn't make you anti establishment or anthing you don't have to agree with every law that has ever been written I see no problem with smoking weed but I see a big problem with killing people there is a really big distinction...

I get high for a good few reasons.

The most important reason, in my opinion: It helps calm me down. I have incredibly high social anxiety that occurs most of the hours I'm awake. While some of it is controllable and tolerable, it makes life incredibly depressing throughout the day and night. Some times I'll have major anxiety for no reason at all. I find that marijuana helps me while high and also while not high. some how it keeps my mind from wandering to negative land. I don't think about unneeded negativity, hardly at all. It's great and is easily one of the best reasons I get high. It has calmed me down, made me MUCH MORE SOCIAL again when I'm not even high anymore, and it definitely has improved my quality of life. I'm way more chill.

Second reason:
It's enjoyable to do alone. It enables me to think differently. Sort of like I'm using more of my brain, like I'm able to think as myself still, but also I get flashes of insight and openness of the mind that allow me to think with different views, but remaining my own self with my own views as well. It gives me a better understanding of the world and the people on it.

Third Reason:
Mood change.
It makes even the most boring things at least tolerable.
I can easily sit and chill while listening to music. Music sounds much better on weed, and it sort of alters noises, or at least makes me hear sounds better. Music is mood altering. It's great to just sit in a pitch black room, in a comfy bed, eyes closed while listening to some Beatles, or whatever takes your fancy. It takes me on a trip, a very lovely one to say the least.

Fourth: (Private) sex reason.... Don't read if you're easily disgusted.
While I do enjoy pot for the reasons above. It also makes me hornier at certain times. I find it very nice to just lay in bed, again in pitch black... And wanking it. It's very lovely haha... And the good thing about it is, once ur done with the first wanking session, I can put on the headphones, go back into lalalaland/ecstacy land and 10-15 minutes later I'll get horny again. So ofcoarse, I'll wank it, AGAIN. Haha... It's really fun. Wanking is fun when sober too. I recommend you try both.

Lastly, it helpsd me concentrate in moderate levels. I'm able to focus on schoolwork and not be so disgruntled with the fact that I'm working hours and hours throughout the day in school. I do better after taking a bong rip, or a couple hits from the pipe. I'm not so antsy to get the hell out.

Well... I do it, kinda for the same reason.. Except of course the compulsive masturbation. LoL

I think I have ADD or some shit, cuz when I'm not smoking, it's hard to stay focused on one thing. I have a hard time in school sober, I pay attention during about 10 minutes of class and then I'm off doing something else (like bugging someone.) So it's better for me, and for some of the other people at my school.

Also because it's enjoyable alone, you don't feel all bummy like getting smashed drunk by yourself. LoL, I hate doing that. And when I'm baked alone, that's usually when I get a lot of stuff done as far as housework, homework and other stuff that I'd usually put off and off and off.

It's also nice cuz I can communicate with my family better, they REALLY don't approve of it (they're mormons), but IDGAF. I most often really have nothing to talk to them about, it's like we just know each other. LoL, but after a nice sit down session, it's a lot easier to just flick some BS with them.

Plus, I'm originally from Humboldt County, CA... So for me NOT to smoke, I think it's a sin, and I don't wanna go to hell. :P

I started smoking b/c I enjoyed the feeling and really liked the social aspect of it (1st time I did it was with my cousins in Colombia)


unfortunately I do fall under the "something is missing in my life" category now. I used to do it at the end of the night to relax and help me sleep, now my life is not going as I had planned and I do find myself smoking to feel good and escape depression

I get high because it makes music better food better it opens up different thoughts and makes me look at things from a more realistic point of view. I just think that it enhances things and when im done its not like i hate life being sober, in fact i love it more after smoking weed. I am able to share thoughts that i did not have before smoking. I just love it
