| In my mind number 3 (everything is nothing) is essentially number 1 (something is missing). If you think everything is nothing, it logically follows that something is missing. In any case, that's the best post I've ever read on this message board or any other. When you say that something in your life is missing, I have two theories. Theory 1 - Society and technology have evolved beyond the point where our limited psyches can comfortably exist. The average person has entirely too much leisure time to contemplate the nature of his existence, leading to a general state of discontent. For the majority of human history, the majority of humans have been extremely busy, whether it was raising crops, hunting animals, or fighting other humans. In previous generations people were defined by their occupation; our generation defines itself by its leisure activities. Whether that's good or bad remains to be seen. Theory 2 - Something is missing, and if you think hard enough you'll figure it out. The problem arises when whatever is missing is not feasibly attainable. For example, I'm looking for a woman who is beautiful and extremely intelligent. My research suggests those two qualities are mutually exclusive, so I smoke. Perhaps your missing element is being the Queen of a small european nation, like Denmark. We're just products of a society that convinced itself of the "special" nature of every child, which is patently unrealistic. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll never be truly happy, so I fill the void with substance abuse and adrenaline. |

| As one of my favorite groups Rehab say in their song "So Green"......."I get high for the feeling, or maybe the lack there of...." Don't get me wrong, I'm not a type of person who gets high just to numb themselves from the world. I'm just saying that song basically describes why anyone gets high.....either because they enjoy the latered perception a marijuana high provides them, or because it "pads" reality. Yeah, when i smoked, the lack of feelings was part of the reason why, but not in the way people natually picture it as. What I meant was that it helped me unwind from my day, and make the transition from "work to "home" much easier. We've all had those completely hellish days at work, and smoking a bowl when you get home makes it easier to leave work at work, rather than carry the baggage of a rotten day with you throughout the rest of your day, ruining any chances of relaxation or focus on other things.

| [quote=ReeferOne]I get high because it makes life interesting. It changes mundane everyday things into something fresh, new, and fun. It turns life into an adventure. Getting high helps me truly apprecitae life instead of taking it for granted like I usually do. It also connects me with friends and my enviroment in ways that are unexplainable. [quote] yea thats pretty much the same reason i get high, like you can appreciate music and food an stuff more, and simple things like looking at sunsets are amazing when your high |

| I guess mine could be considered a medical reason, just like Vicky. I have a bum left knee, which keeps dislocating on me and hurts 24/7. Another reason I smoke reefer, is without it, Im a total wack job. When Im sober, Im paranoid, and quick to jump at anyone who wants to fight. When I was younger (mainly elementary school) I was one bad mother ****er. In 2nd grade( thats right ) I threw a chair at a teacher, over some dumb ****. In 3rd grade, I beat a kids ass out of the blue one day for shoving me on the way out of class. 4th grade I was put into a class that has two teachers and about 8 students, so as we can be kept from killing each other. Then in 5th grade, my best year, I got paddled in the office every day, just for general dicking off. So I guess my main reasons are -- Marijuana helps ease my knee pain, and it calms my ass down. |

| Meditation is grand, indeed. It helped me kick those pks. Man this is off topic but I was killing bottles of 30 to myself in 2 days. Meditation really helps you out with stuff like that, because pks take over your mind, that feeling of nothingness, always just feeling that your there nothing else, straight up wiggins. |

| I get high for the feeling, the mind alteration; just being able to expand my thoughts and to explore my mind, something I couldn't dream of doing on a sober head. I like the way I can just relax, think about whats going on in life and figure out how I can help myself through everyday problems. Without Marijuana, I'd still be the ill-hearted, short tempered person I used to be.

| I do it because its really is a great way to wind down from a stressful day at work. Don't try to overdo it, and you will find yourself enjoying it in the long run. |

| at first i just wanted to get high/get ****ed up/alter my perception/achieve enlightenment and all the rest of the bs...these days its effects are more physical. its a state of being that lets my muscles unwind and my mind relaxe. i don't think it used to do this, quite the opposite: i used to feel more tense when i smoked. these days its quite literally like a hot bath ![]()

| Well I've often thought about this question and came up with no answer. But eventually I did. See I've smoked for a number of years now and realized, I like bud! It alters my mind, makes me trip out! I like to smoke and sit in a hot bath, go run, sit and meditate, play video games........I enjoy the high, I literaly will sit and analyze my high, may it be a body high, mental high, or just a "caught in the headlights" high. Why do you get high Blondie? And the law, is it based on fact or opinion? Sure, the law is good, or is it? who's opinion is the law based on? We have a democracy in the U.S. but we must all follow the law. We have a democracy in the U.S. but we cant legalize bud. We have a democracy here in the U.S. but we cant.....get my point? Sure Saddam is being prosicuted, but when he was large and in charge it was his law. Now they are a democracy and must obide by our rule, so is law an opinion? Just a thought is all......... |

| Being high makes everyday life an adventure. But for me, it slows me down. If I go for a long period of time without smoking (this was true before I had ever smoked) i become anxious, and borde with life. I was really depressed and focused on the negative until I found the sweet leaf. I am not dependent on it, marijuana just helps me to relax and appreciate life. It also seems to help me think outside of the box, but that is beside the point. Marijuana has made me a more social and all-around better person. |
