I'm Mexican-American and live in San Diego, so im like completely split on both sides, im a student too so its wierd seeing kids my age and my race walk out and protest on the streets, i do admit though that im more pro-immigration than anti, so what do you think?

I dont really care for immigration. All of it is to help illegal aliens trying to live the american dream, who shouldn't be here anyways. I love the new immigration bill, the past two semesters in my english class i have been writing persuassive essays to help strict border laws, deportation laws, and crack down on illegal immigration. I'm glad something is finally being done about it. Also while the republicans own congress and the white house i feel things will start to get done, since what democrat has a say in it when they're outnumbered...in everything..

Bush was saying something in a press conference a little while ago about how he wants to prevent illegal aliens from staying in the country while still allowing legal immigrants to come in. Basically, his point was that if people are doing all the paperwork and sticking to the process as it was intended, they'd be allowed in, but if they're trying to do it illegally, they'd be sent back to their home country.

As much as some people think GW is an idiot, I thought that was a really good point. If people do want to come to the US and live the American dream, let them do it legally; but if they're trying to skip the time/paperwork it takes to become a citizen, then fuck 'em.

Obviously I'm not aware of the effort it takes to immigrate to this country, I'm sure it's a difficult process, but it's in place for a reason and we do need to regulate who comes into the country and how many people are coming in.

I have no problem with immigrants coming to America as long as they get fluent in English, and can keep a job so that they don't end up on welfare.

Mexico concerns me a bit. I don't think we should get too friendly with them atm, until we get more information on their military supposedly helping drug shipments in the US. there have been a few instances of Boarder Patrol agents witnessing what appear to be Mexican military vehicles escorting drug traffickers across the boarder in some areas, entering the US even. i find that to be a bit disturbing. Of course, the Mexican gov't denies theyu were actually military forces, but what country would ADMIT to supporting such actions?

Well, I have to admit I haven't kept up with the immigration bill as well as I should have...

But here's what I think:
Estimates are around 10-12 million illegal immigrants in this country currently.
Around a 4-5% unemployment rate in this country. So a guest worker program would be needed, I believe.

We need to require employers get valid documentation (not counterfeit ID, we have the technology to stop that) for any employees.
We need to fine employers (so much it hurts) when they don't do that.

We need to make sure that benefits are not paid for illegal immigrants (food stamps, etc.).

As long as there are jobs over here for them, they will keep on coming and no fence is going to stop that.

Speaking of fences...The one they are proposing? They will have to take property away from land owners to build it and that just sticks in my craw.
I don't want any freakin' fence.

Like stated above, I could care less if they come over get a job, pay taxes etc... But if they are coming over here just to mooch then burn them f'ers alive.

and all these kids protesting... they dont know crap about what is going on, most just have an excuse to get out of school...

Are you fucking serious. Unless you are of 100% Native American descent you dont own shit in this country. Every single one of you either immigrated to this country at one point or another or is a descendant of an immigrant, so denying other people the same chance for a better life that your ancestors got is very hypocritical. And dont even try to pretend like your people came over on a boat legally, if ireland was south of the border, the same exact shit would happen.

And another thing

Drug smuggling concerns you? WTF nigga you smoke weed. Yea it seems messed up that the government would do this but dude, its Mexico. . . like drug lords own the government.

I dont have a problem with the people who come here LEGALLY and try to make something of themselves. I do however, have a problem with the goddamned border hoppers who come here ILLEGALLY. I dont see why we didnt round up all those little illegal shits while they were protesting and dump the illegals back across the border.
