Default Interesting or Out of my mind?

Sometimes I wonder about the nature of original life.

If you believe in evolution, you believe that all organisms evolved from the same original organism. And if you think about it, we are all connected to that original life.

That life was a dividing cell. Its daughters were the cells that it divided into. Those cells divided into more cells, until eventually much diversity took place through evolutionary processes, and in a way, we are all just a "division" of that original cell. In a way, we are all connected to every living thing on this planet.

We like to think of life as on, or off, but its not always like that. Its more of a flow. That original cell never died, it just became two cells when it divided, and so on.

Its hard to explain exactly what I am thinking, but I dont know, it just feels like every living thing is just an extrapolation of that original cell.

I dont know. During my last Astro lecture, we discussed the end of the universe. Its a pretty creepy thing to think that someday nothing will exist, and never will exist. Supposedly, according to physicists, all of the protons and neutrons will decay into nothingness, useless energy, and space will be a giant void filled with nothing, and never again will any sort of matter exist. Everything will essentially be, non-existant.

If a tree falls in a forest, and nothing is around to hear it, does it make a sound? No, sound is the perception of vibrations in the air interpreted by our brains.

If the universe exists, and nothing is around to witness its existence, does it still exist?
Why would it?

Why would the universe exist if there were no things or people to witness or appreciate it. I mean, the laws of theromdynamics state that eventually, everything will be useless heat energy, so why would anything but heat energy ever exist to begin with?

Imagine, nothing existing, nothing ever existing, never has, never will. There would be no time.

It just seems more logical for God to exist to create the universe. A being beyond nothing and infinity. I mean, is it just as plausible that the universe easily could have never existed in the first place?

It hurts my head to think about. Nothing is a concept beyond my grasp. Perhaps I should re-word that. The concept of nothing existing is beyond my grasp.

Add that to the list of things I cannot comprehend. So far we have:

Nothing
Infinity

Sorry about deleting it, I guess I was just confused as to why it was moved to the polls forum... the poll is more of a joke, but the actual post has some meat to it that most polls don't, please move this back to general topics.

You said it seems more logical for God to exist. That may be true to some extent, but there is still something that doesn't add up. If there is some supreme being or force existing outside of space and time who created us and everything around us how did he/she/it come to be? And why?

Thats always been what I've wondered too.

At what point do you say "It just is"

Do you stop at the universe, and just say it exists just because it does

Or do you go back another step and say that God exists, just because He does,

or even further?

'It just is' Those are good words. You came across that answer while you were comtemplating the great beyond. I for one think that in order to know about things beyond me I need to understand myself first.

Have you ever thought about your own brain? If you haven't take a little bit and just reflect a bit. Have you ever thought about what actually happens when you think? A chunk of flesh and blood twitches a little bit and sends electrical signals to another chunk of flesh and blood. This happens and we have thought.

I can understand that working for getting me to breathe, walk, see, hear, or do any number of actions. Any plant or animal can exist, but how many know they exist?

When you think of the word 'me' do you think of your physical body or your personality/soul? Sometimes 'me' refers to my body, and sometimes it refers to the person/soul. At what point did I develop a sense of self?

If you do believe that God created everyting and wonder how or when he came to be, would he be under the authority of "time"?

If he created everything including time itself, wouldn't he be excede the limits of time?

Just a thought.
