Exclamation Where and when will YOU draw the line?

For those members that live in Canada and the USA I wanted to get a general "feeling" about the disturbing state of our eroding civil liberties.

"Don't wavie your rights with your flags" - Sage Francis

Where, and when do you as an individual say, "NO MORE, I draw the line HERE!" Is it when our driver's lisences are replaced starting in '07 by "National Real ID Cards"?

Will you draw the line when the internet starts to become more and more censored?

Will you draw the line when racial profiling results in ethnic groups rounded up and herded into "holding facilities"? (these are actually being built by Halliburton all over the US right now)...

Or will you sit on your couch, smoke your bud and wait for the jack-booted thugs to come banging down your door?

It's already been crossed for me. I have already told my wife that I'll go without a drivers license if the real ID actually is implemented.

I told the school last week that my children did not need videotaped, fingerprinted and a dna sample taken in case they were kidnapped.

As for what else to do about it? Read my signature.

I feel the line has been crossed already. And while I don't feel our freedom is gone it is most certainly in serious danger.
The current administration continues to invade our civil liberties and they try to hide their actions. When they get caught in the lies they say they were protecting us!!!
I have said it before and I will say it again....the only way I can sleep at night is knowing that I did not vote for Bush.

what will YOU do DaDornata???

i hear you talk about this all the time but are you doing anything besides what you are talking down to the rest of us for doing?? stockpiling weapons somewhere???? just wondering, i think the government is fucked of course but my life is a large percentage illegal and i havent been affected by this crazy conspiracy yet.

there should be another option along the lines of: think the government is fucked but isnt paranoid enough to wear a tin foil hat yet

I just noticed new security cameras at the local supermarket right outside pointed out into the parking lot. The days of the covert "meet me at the safeway" to get a bag or two will soon be gone...

We are already on average on some kind of camera over 20 times a day. . .

I'm almost more scared of all the personal and medical information the private sector has on all of us...that might be someday handeded over to the government.

I'm tempted to make signs for the overpasses and whatnot...at least I can say when we're all locked up like sheep that I *did* somthing as the ship went down...

Ive been buying lots of books latley Jack...I have a feeling if things were to get really bad I'd be forced to run off into the woods with nothing by my own two hands. Internet acess won't be an option, so books will be primary source of reference material.

I've got several really good ethnobotany books on the local plants that are edible and their medicinal uses. I've also been learning how to make snares and traps. I'm not really sure I can *fight* to much, as I said the ship is already sinking...

But I want to be prepared to keep myself alive so that I may "fight another day". Getting myself killed in a Tienemen Square-type protest would just be cutting myself short.

I think just trying to raise the awareness levels in the average pothead is a start...

I think you are all paranoid and perhaps slightly delusional. (Just kidding, of course.)

But seriously. Security cameras outside a supermarket have NOTHING to do with the government. They're to keep people from stealing grocery carts or breaking into cars. George Bush's secret service men aren't watching the footage from Kroger every night to keep tabs on us.

And medical information is and always will be protected by doctor-patient confidentiality laws. No one in the government can just go to your doctor and request your records, sorry, it just doesn't work like that.

Seriously. Think about it. Has YOUR daily life been impacted by anything that's happened recently? Has YOUR door been busted down so that government agents could check to make sure you're not building bombs or harboring terrorists? No.

I mean, come on, everyone bitches and moans about all of this secret government activity when they actually have no idea what is going on, and to boot, their lives haven't even been affected.

Find something else to invest your time in being completely paranoid over - maybe cancer or something(?).

Sure, security cameras at supermarkets don't directly have anything to do with government, but those records/tapes could be used by a prosecutor in a national security case...under the Patriot Act..

You all have probably heard that the police no longer need to knock or announce themselves before they bust into your home with a warrent. Many people might have a knee-jerk reaction and fear for their lives...I fear a policeman might be killed because of this...and I think it might only help to make their case...

"See, the suspect shot and killed the police officer! He *MUST* be a dangerous criminal!"

Or, perhaps he thought the police were robbers and shot first....

I'm just sayin guys...don't start bitching once it's to late and you *CANT* complain...

the line has been crossed! more than once.

and about it not affecting any of our daily lives, maybe not right now but it could, and if it continues how it is. it probably will. it may not be happening to me personally, but it happens to other people, so why not fight for them?
