There's been a lot of discussion lately about people who hide their smoking from people (parents, lovers, teachers, employers, probation officers, etc.)

Personally, I think that if you're in a situation where you shouldn't be smoking pot and you're having to hide it, fake drug tests, etc., you really shouldn't be smoking pot. If you have to hide your marijuana use, then you're lying to the people that don't believe you smoke, plain and simple. In my eyes, this is just plain wrong.

Now, I'm sympathetic to the people who have to dilute or substitute to pass a drug test for work. I've subbed to get a job one time many years ago, long before there was a Whizzinator. I used a clean buddy's urine and a condom and I ended up getting the job. I could even stretch this to someone on probation or parole, I suppose...

However, if you're having to sneak your toking because your spouse/lover/partner doesn't agree with it, then you should either not toke up for their benefit or give up the relationship because it's founded on a lie anyway. The same thing goes for having to sneak around teachers and the like.

So what do you think about "sneaking around"? Acceptable? Unacceptable? Depends on the circumstances?

First and foremost is that marijuana being illegal,we sneak-around to smoke it.However,there are the other issues.
Since I beleive that any adult has the choice of what to do without harming anyone else,I honestly don't think we should hide our use from anyone.I just don't see any advantage in lying.And any relationship,friends,lovers,etc...,that is formed around lies will never be succesful.Marijuana is thought to be used by only the socially unaccepted,we as adults that have become upstanding citizens need to stand up and be counted.Change the views of our society on the stereo-typical marijuana smoker.

Hmmmm I don't think that lying about smoking pot means the relationship was founded on a lie. That would mean that when you met it went "Hi, do you not smoke marijuana?"..."Definetely not, lets be friends because of that!" No. Its just one aspect of life and I don't believe any relationship(minus dealer/customer should be based on weed. The saddest part is that most of the time the other people would be the ones who would have the problem...I mean if somebody doesn't smoke I don't care, that doesn't make me think less of them but more often than not if they find out you smoke they may think slightly less of you. I don't see that as a fault on my part but a small misunderstanding on theirs.

Ahem, anyways I say it all depend on the circumstances, but I don't believe at all that just because you're not completely open about smoking you shouldn't do it. Its just protecting yourself. Remember according to the government we're almost all in a situation where we shouldn't be smoking pot and just to make sure you don't have serious problems you have to hide it. Just doesn't seem fair to kind of condemn people for hiding something that could get them in a lot of trouble, if it were legal it would be a totally different story but until that day its just looking out for yourself.

I dont see what you shouldnt sneak around others. THEY are the ones who have a problem with what YOU do with YOUR life. IF someone has a problem with what you do, and they make it a point to try to change you, even if they think it is for the best, you should have every right to lie, sneak, and possibly kill these people.

Just kidding.... kind of, but generally speaking, ALL my friends, 80% of my teachers, and even my boss at work know I smoke. (I had a friend who was hardcore against smoking. She would get so mad when I smoked. I told her the facts, and that I wasnt going to stop. She really doesnt care now, so long as I dont smoke in front of her). The only people I sneak around are my parents. And they kind of know anyway.....

I really think it depends. Some people are so against it they will never be "ok" with smoking. So around those people, I feel, its is necessary to be stealthy. But if it is someone who you know would be "ok" with smoking then there would be no reason not to tell him/her.

I have never told anyone outright I don't smoke, they just always assume I don't and never question me. So I don't feel like I am lying by being sneaky. Now if someone just asked, "Do you smoke marijuana?" I would really need to think about who I am talking with and if it is worth living a lie.

Sneaking is sometimes nessacary, Getting caught will cause un needed aggro, and not getting caught doesnt hurt anybody

I look at it this way: if someone doesn't respect me enough to accept my smoking weed, I want nothing to do with them. I could never sneak around on a girl or anything with my use; I'd get caught really fast. Basically everyone who knows me knows I smoke weed, and no one really has a problem with it, although I don't think my boss appreciates my complete lack of short term memory (which actually has ALWAYS been horrible)....
