Now it sounds like your trying to find an excuse to run away. Bad idea. And you're really placing way too much importance on weed. Panic attacks are no joke. I know people who have had them, and for them it's terrifying. Any person who "lashes" out at you really, is not a friend. If you move, you're still going to get panic attacks. It sucks, but it's true. You should really see a pro. | |

| Whew....it's been a while since I've posted here. Figured this was a good thread to post my own experience in. About two weeks (or so) ago, I experienced a panic attack after smoking. Holy....f***ing....hell.....I hope none of you ever have to go through that. The best way I can describe it is this: You know how when you get scared, you get those shots of adrenaline? You can feel it in your chest, and you can feel it spread to the rest of your body. Your heart beats harder, and faster. Well, this panic attack was like that, over and over and over again, pretty much uncontrollably. It was so bad, I couldn't even move without triggering another "adrenaline burst". I laid flat on my back for a good hour, afraid to move. At some points, my heart was racing so fast and beating so hard I honestly thought I was going to die, or at least come to very serious harm. Admittedly, being high made me a little more paranoid, and there was definitely a big psychological aspect to the panic attack. Thoughts of "I'm having a heart attack", or "I feel like I'm going to die" inevitably brought on more adrenaline. Needless to say, I'm on a break right now. I've had a hoot here and there, but nothing more. Even after a couple of hoots I could feel an attack trying to sneak up. Again, probably in my head (apparently I'm not too good at "thinking myself down"). I think I'll wait another few weeks before trying again. Just wondering if any regulars here have gone through an attack THIS bad, and how they dealt with it. I'm not desperate to start smoking again (as I've happily found now that I've stopped) and can obviously live without it, but it would be nice to be able to smoke again......

| Oh my god man I used to have a serious anxiety disorder that I needed proffesional help with(pychologist, not a crazy doctor lol). After about 2 months of trippin on anxiety the build up was about to burst, I had a non stop 3 day long anxiety attack and I thought I was dieing, I missed a day of school and I was fucked. But luckily since than I have absolutly no panic attacks, I just dont give a fuck anymore lol That was 5 years ago, fucked up times. I'd actually have to say smoking pot made me feel better

| If you decide to smoke please be careful. I dont think your attack is anything to mess with it may be serious furthermore I would say a couple hits here and there may not help increase your tolerance. Most of us have had small panic type feelings when we first started smoking pot and xspecialy KB's but they do fade as you become aware of what to expect. A Buzz!

| do you know what kinda weed you were smoking? Smoking straight sativa which has high ass levels of THC with barely any CBD or CBN to mellow it out CAN and WILL cause anxiety if you're a novice. Try to start out with some hard indica like some blueberry or some kush or afghani. They are more mellow stoned highs and are far less likely to cause anxiety. |

Of COURSE, there was a "big psychological aspect" to your panic attacks. Panic attacks are commonly symptoms of mental illness, and frequent or intense panic attacks are of course classifed as Panic Disorder. Panic attacks are a mental phenomenon that manifests itself physically. There is no physical reason your body reacts this way....its all in your mind. I know many people who suffer/have suffered with panic attacks and panic disorder. Some grew out of it, some didn't. Some sought professional help, others did not. Some have used medications to control the attacks, others simply learned to deal with them on their own. My advice is to simply discontinue smoking weed if it causes problems for you. All the medication, doctors, etc won't do any good if you don't discontinue the one thing that causes the attacks to happen. Sure they can offer you medication and whatnot, but thats brings up some vclaid questions. is it OK to prescribe someone a drug so that they can enjoy other illegal drugs? Is it ethical to prescribe someone a drug for controlling panic attacks when the attacks are soley caused by the use of illegal drugs? I tend to believe that no DR would be willing to prescribe medication for a disorder you can control by simply avoiding cannabis. Smoking weed doesn't always agree with people, and some people just aren't cut out to be cannabis smokers. if it causes problems, the obvious solution is to simply avoid it, and the problem is solved.

| Do you get panic attacks even when you aren't smoking? If it's only when you smoke, then your subconscious must be telling you that it's dangerous because of your previous experiences with it. If you get them even when you don't smoke, you most likely have an anxiety disorder. This site has lots of information that might be useful to you If you only get it when you smoke, then I think the anxiety would probably be easier to cope with. Try smoking in a peaceful environment and in the right state of mind. It's all mind over matter. |

| If your parents don't know you smoke mabey you should approch them about if you have confidence that they wont freak out at you making your problem worse... If they see that it could potentially help with your anxiety then you can smoke guilt free... |
