I guess I just look for quality weed when I buy it, and the copmpactness of buds or color isn't all that significant to me.

Now the coating of trichomes is a whole other ballgame. I won't say that bud coated with enough trichomes to make it look like a Krispy Kreme donut may not give me a hard-on, but I can be assured that it's probably some damn fine smoke.

He said it as well as it can be said. I've had bud that looked like straight up chronic, that was actually poorer quality than schwag i could have bought at half the price. Luckily, I wasn't the sucker who bought it! But, truth be told, the truth is in the smoke. I've had weeed that looked like shit that got me super stoned. However, I've had weed that looked awesome that severely disappointed me. The choices given don't really make a lot of sense, as darque pointed out in the quopted post as well as elsewhere in this thread

I've smoked every kind out there, from schwag to stickiest of the ickie and several name brand strains.

I used to think I could tell if bud was good or not based on appearance but I've been surprised too many times by what looked like average smoke getting me higher than stuff that looked much better. In my opinion it all has to do with the way it was grown/cured.

Given the choice though, between fluffy and dense buds, I'll always go with dense. Fluffy buds usually indicate that the bud site was either in the shade or was grown with poor lighting.

I dont think ive ever in my life saw what looks to be good weed turn out bad... never.

ive smoked alot of buds, i cant imagin seeing a dank ass looking nug, grown intentionally for smoking marijuana could be horrible yet look gorgeous.

what i have seen, is buds that look better than they are

[Example]: Very well grown mids, taken care of. Round buds, or chunks of fluffy chrystally buds. around here, people try to "off" them as "baby dro" or beasters. granted the bud looks good on the outside, to an expert bud examiner like we are here at the lounge, upon examining the bud we can usually tell the diffrence in the apperance of how well the plant was grown and how the stems look etc.

[Example 2] AAA Beasters that look like absolute dankness, but are just very nice beasters. still good buds, but not as good as real dank. you may think it is real dank, but it is your regular beasters. ( i actually have found that beasters with mass red hairs mostly mean a head high that isnt very potent.) <- this is what im thinking your reffering too? but not nearly as horrible, nasty tasting as shwagg.

id rather not smoke, than smoke shwagg.

Lit Match: Some buds are pretty prone to bieng fluffy as apposed to dense. its just there genetics. but, i also enjoy the dense indica nugs.

I don't think it's a matter of good weed turning out to be lousy. I think it's more a matter of weed that looks good turning out to be mediocre. Or maybe bud that looks really top-of-the-line turning out to be merely good.

I've had some really delicious-looking purple buds with lots of hairs and trichomes. I also got some pure green bud with it. The purple bud was good, yes. But it wasn't super-duper-splendiferous, either. The pure green bud was so much better, both in the taste, texture of the smoke, and the quality of the high.
