I remember those dark ages when I used to buy cold medicines from the supermarket and use them if I had a fever, flue, or cold. The problem was is that they sucked. They barely did anything at all to make me feel better, let alone cure the sickness any sooner.

But I'll never forget the first time I got sick and smoked some weed instead of taking those nearly useless cough medicines. I felt SOOO much better, as if I was cured right away. Of course it doesn't cure it all the way from one toke......but the next morning I usually feel mostly cured. And of course when I smoke weed when I'm sick I can eat ANYTHING, so I usually go after foods that I like regardless on whether or not they are orthodox for a ill person or not. And it doesn't usually matter either.......no matter what, I usually feel far better and get well at least 3 times quicker.

Ever since then whenever I feel ill with a cold, fever, or flue I smoke pot as my medicine. It works far better than any cough, cold, flue, or fever medicine I know of. At first I was skeptical whether it would actually work since I am smoking something while I'm sick........but I realize that the bias toward being worried stemmed from thinking about it as if it is tobacco......which of course it isn't.

What is your experience in using cannabis as a medicine to treat a common cough, cold, fever, flue, or anything else? Do you find it superior or inferior to traditional medicines you buy from the store? And does anyone know the physiological reasons why cannabis is a superior medicine than all those other cold medicines (well at least to me)?

It either doesn't have any noticable effects regarding treating a cold, or it makes my throat worse, because the mucous increase. I prefer not to smoke while being sick. It tends to come down on my high, and make it less enjoyable.

Oohhhhh yeah! It defenitely works for me. Not only does it kind of cure my sickness, but it makes me forget about my sickness as well. Seriously, cannabis is the most effective medicine I use for any type of illness.

Man, it would be so awesome if you could walk into a drug store and look at flu medication stuff and see a box with some bud on it that says "Night-time relief with sleep aid"


Man, shit... in the future we're going to have pills for everything. You can just stroll down the "breakup medication" isle and forget your girlfriend or how you felt about the relationship with one pill. God I'm high.

^^ Reminds me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I keep tellin people we should forget all the bullshit pharmaceutical crap out there and just legalize the plant. I've never really smoked when high, but I imagine putting some steamy water in the bong as others have said would do wonders for congestion and all that. I'm sick right now. Maybe if I still have a cold when I get outta treatment I'll give it a try.

I think smoking with a cough is pretty stupid. Ive got bronchitis right now and the last thing i want to do is smoke. Smoking is only going to make it take longer for you to heal up. And if i remember correctly it also lowers your immune stystem. Smoking with an upset stomach is somthing i usually do tho cause it seems to take the stomach pain away.

smoking when your sick is ok unless your throat hurts or you have a nasty cough, usually when i get bronchitis or sore throat i make a canna-cookie so i dont have to smoke it, ingesting weed when your sick works WAYYYYY better then when u smoke it

Yeah, I noticed it too.

I've smoked while sick before, but it just made things worse. Of course I used a shitty corn-cob pipe my ex got me in Kentucky (it just makes my throat a bitch) so that might explain the throat thing. A bong might cure that problem.

I might agree if the cannabis was being vaporized, that way it won't effect your thoat and lungs, nearly as much as smoking...if at all. Right now I have a pretty bad cough, cold and sore throat and smoking doesn't help any of those.
