Quick question for the rest of you...

Pot's supposed to be a depressant? I can see that in my buddies, who usually just chill out after a session.

I tend to get a bit hyper, though. I'll pick up the guitar and really get into it, jumping around my room and banging my head. Even just listening to upbeat music gets me moving. (I also just made a thread about my preference for death metal while stoned.) Otherwise, I just like to laugh, be creative, and generally have a fun time.

So, I'm just wondering if this is "normal". I don't think it's the weed, because this seems to be a pretty consistent theme in my highs, even when I smoke different stuff.

Oh, and I'm not complaining. I have a blast.

Weed can supposedly be a stimulant, depressant, and/or hallucinogen. Your friends might just get too stoned and can't do anything. I like hiking and playing guitar, etc. Typical upbeat, happy stoner. I think it all depends on your mood.

Stimulant when you are in a generally cheery mood.
Depressant when something is getting you down.
SLIGHT Hallucinogen (possible auditory and/or minor peripherals) when you're f'd up on something besides weed.

First off, mods how the hell is this considered to be a topic for places and people, simply because he mentioned his friends in his question?? I think you're trying to drive this "General Topics last resort" thing a little too far...

Second, the way you act all has to do with the way your personality and mindset is, not to mention what kind of weed you're smoking. Some people like to smoke and have lengthy conversations, some like to smoke and laugh and joke around, some like to just chill. It all depends on where I'm at and who I'm with personally. To answer your ?, yes it's normal, a lot of people act differently when high.

Everyone reacts different to the herb. Sometimes I like to just chill and hangout and then other times I like to spaz out, too. What you need is to find another group of people to smoke with that react the same way you do. I promise you will have the time of your life.

When they say depressant they don't mean it depresses you a depressant is anything that lowers your immune system/ lowers your blood pressure weed does for some people other people it doesn't. Alcohol is a depressant but it ususally gives me a good amount of energy/super human strength/ inflated sense of self-esteem.

I know, but I find that sometimes my heart rate goes up, sometimes it goes down. In my experience it really depends on the mindset I'm in at the time.

Yeah I agree with Fuzzy. I've noticed that my highs can be completely different just based on where I'm smoking at or who I'm smoking with. If I smoke in my place, I just want to chill, put some music and play video games. If I smoke outside or near a park I want to explore and swing and do all kinds of other stuff I would never do sober, haha.

In response to dark, it could be a people question, because people ultimatley act different to all drugs. I dont think weed is a depressant, but it can make some people tired (stoned) but will not necesarrily make you depressed. Actualy, recent experimentation might show that it works as an anti-depressant. As for heart rate, if i think about it it feels like it is going up, if im not worried about it, i cant feel it.

Ya, just because it's a depressed, doesn't mean it makes you depressed. All it does it impair your sense of space/time in a slowing way, making your central nervous system physically depressed. Basically, you're body is reacting to stuff at a slightly slower rate, which can be bad or good, depending on how you handle it, and if you're drunk or not.
