Default Use of torture???

Do you think the US should use torture to get the Al-Queda guy the just caught to talk (this is of course presuming he WON'T talk)?

Personaly, I think they should use any means necessary to find out any and all information they can.

the question is not WILL they use torture against "terrorists" (Defined in the patriot act as anyone who violates any federal or state law), but will we find out about it. thats waht we need to worry about.

It makes the American government even more hypocritical: they released all that propeganda about the taliban and their "barbaric" punishments. Bush is breaking the laws of his own country and ignoring the constitution in the name of "national security".

I'm pretty sure that there is no clause in the patriot act saying that everyone who breaks a law is a terrorist. Show it to me and I will eat my words, I promise.

The problem with the Patriot act is that it leaves the definition open to interpretation; not everyone who breaks the law is a terrorist, but who is? When I think of the word "terrorist", I think of an active member of a government listed terrorist organization. The problem with these new bills, notably Total Information Awareness, is that there is no clearly defined "terrorist". I believe that it mentions "information gathering", and such, but who is to say that particular person is gathering the knowledge for good reasons or for bad ones?

And to those who believe that torture is an accepted form of interrogation, realize that this is the proverbial pandora's box. Once that line has been crossed, everything is fair game. Why should other nations abide by rules if the most powerful one doesn't?

Since we're talking about Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, I wanted to take this time to point out that he is secretly John Belushi. The second I saw his picture, I thought of the scene from animal house where Belushi is wearing the toga...

^ignorance^

To us, there is no justification, or rationalization, for their killing of our citizens. What is our justification on torturing theirs?

Honestly, people, show some humanity. It doesn't take THAT much energy to recognize that other people are humans, too.
