| If yes, expand on what you think a soul is. If no, how about this... do you think they experience feelings? I wonder what living the life of a cat or a dog would be like. What level of conciousness do they experience? BTW, I'm just not sure. ![]() |

| I do believe they have feelings! My dogs mood change often. He is depressed and such.... example, I have a cat, Gizmo, that is grieving over the death of Jinxsie who passed last weekend. They were inseparable and Gizmo is very sad. Staying inside, sleeping alot, prowling and calling for Jinxsie. I think he knows something is wrong. Souls, I don't know, it would be cool to think they did ![]()

| Absolutely. I don't know if I would use the term "soul" but I believe they have spirit; just as we do. They think, live, and observe. They have the breathe of live in them just as we do. They are a living being of conciousness. It just may be on a different level than humans ![]()

| Don't know about souls to much. I agree with what iamskfan said. You can definitely tell animal's emotions change. I know for sure with dogs, its easy to tell. Fish are a little harder to tell... Know when you see a dog and it barks? Thats a feeling. When they wag their tail and wine cause they haven't seen you all day...love that. I think thats what makes dogs so cool. I think they are about the same as us (to an extent of course). They just talk, eat and greet...etc different than us. |

| i don't believe any beings have a soul beyond the time period where all the things come together to create a consciousness, and pets definitely have consciousness. humans have more concept of self about our own consciousness, but that's the main difference to me.

| I'm not convinced that there really is a thing called a soul, and I'm not convinced there isn't. I'm quite sure that a soul in the "christian" sense isn't correct, but possibly something more like Jack_Torrance said is possible, I think. |

| I don't even know if humans have a soul, so I wont speculate on animals. I know they have all the emotions we have. I've seen it too many times not to believe it. I'm currently dealing with a cat that has revenge issues. ![]()

| I believe that every natural being has a soul of some type. In my opinion, the soul is the essence of the Creator, and each of us received a "piece" of that divine essence when we (our souls, not our physical bodies) were born. In other words, we are a part of the divine, and the divine is a part of us. I don't believe, however, that every soul is the same. A cat, for example, has a different type of soul than a rock; each specie has a different type of soul. I also don't believe that non-humans reincarnate; animals learn everything they need to know based purely on instinct. As humans, our brains are more evolved and that gets us into some trouble, namely that we have stopped listening to our instincts, along with the fact that our advanced consciousness allows us to learn things that other animals cannot. Therefore, I believe in reincarnation, as it takes many lifetimes to acheive spiritual perfection, but I do not believe that we incarnate as non-humans and I do not believe that animals reincarnate, as they learn all they need to know in one lifetime.

| Of course animals have feelings? Haven't you ever stepped on a cat's foot or tail before? It screamed out in pain right? Living the life of a cat or dog would be the ideal life! All my cat does all day long while I am busting my butt at work is sleep, eat and just lounge around. I would give anything to swap lives with my cat. He doesn't have a worry in the world except what time I am coming home......He gets everything he needs and wants handed to him on a silver platter [not really but you know]. If I have to come back to this world as anything my first choice would be a cat. What an easy life they have! |
