This article starts out saying, "WASHINGTON - Researchers have figured out how to give an entire community a drug test using just a teaspoon of wastewater from a city’s sewer plant...."

Now it mostly talks about the methamphetamine, cocaine, and even caffine use but I'm sure there are some THC traces in those samples also.

So I'm curious, how does something like this strike all of you???

I think it'd be a kind of interesting test to do, but if the government was thinking about being proactive about fighting drugs based on the results, I think that's just not fair.

I think it's bullshit, living in Washington all it will do is help against the drug war. against us. More statistics for druggies, more enforcement, crap crap crap...

Why not. Not being able to trace it to an individual, I don't think it poses much of a threat to anyone here. It certainly would be interesting, and probably useful for all sorts of research. Who cares if the government knows that a given community has individuals that partake in drug use? They knew that already, just not the exact numbers or proportions. I seriously doubt this would hinder the fight to legalize cannabis, and it is possible it could aid it.

It strikes me as another waste of tax payers money. In my opinion they should take air samples to find the highest concentration of Meth Labs and shut them down.
I guess researchers have to find something to research or they will lose their jobs.

I saw on the news one night, it showed a black cloud representing meth use, and it showed how it spread across the country. It was fascinating and also sad.

A test like this literally cannot ever be used to test each and every individual in the city, so why not? The next drug epidemic to come around might be stopped in its tracks by knowing where to set our "frontlines."

It's fine if it's done for research because then it can only help provide evidence in favor of legalization. People will start to discover how harmless of a drug it is.

i cant see a problem with it except their going to wonder what in the hell happened when the test my town, everybody around hear either drinks or smokes, or does other drugs, theirs not that much to do unless you either golf or go to a movie everyday
