Default Is hydro worse for you?

I've been told by heaps of people around where I live (about 5 different sources) that hydro is sprayed with heaps of chemicals to keep it small & more productive, and that outdoor grows/soil grows are a lot better for you than hydro.

I'm not sure what to believe as I've only researched growing in soil:
So, is hydro worse for you? Does it have chemicals added to it that soil grows don't?

As far as health goes, I don't really think there is a problem because of the chemicals. You can grow hydro 100% natural if you want to. I don't like ever tasting any type of chemical, I know that, but a decent grower can avoid that. That said, super grassy weed (basically outdoor weed that wasn't cared for too much) isn't very good either.

I dont think the chemicals really have any affect, because most growers "flush" there plants before they harvest there plants. They only feed them water like the last 2 weeks of the flowering stage, in order to get all the chemicals out of the plant.

Naturally grown hydroponic marijuana is not as bad for you as cheap shwag (in my opinion) if for no other reason than you can smoke less of it to obtain the same effect (normally, of course it depends on the skill of the gardener).

Any gardener can spray his or her plants with any number of chemicals.

So are there any tell-tale signs of weed that has been sprayed with harmful chemicals or not "flushed" properly after these chemicals have been used?

Usually, the dead give away, is upon smoking, you will notice EXTREME harshness, which would cause you to immiedately stop smoking it. Unless your throught is completely numb, lol. Other wise, you will taste the chemicals, i cant describe it, but you will taste it and know right away.

Hydro just means 'hydroponically' grown. Sometimes it might just be a harsher or denser smoke. I don't know exactly how it is grown, but they might use too much fertilizer causing a strange taste in the bud.

Make sure you don't call your weed 'hydro', or 'dro' if it isn't hydroponic marijuana.

Yeah, I know pretty much how its all grown, but the plant will obviously need suppliments for the nutrients it's not getting because there is no soil to get the nutrients from. Its just that an overwhelming percentage of people i've talked to that smoke say that hydroponically grown weed (well in Australia?) is grown using chemicals that can be harmful to humans: I don't know, thats what i've been told
if anybody has anything else they can shed light on???

cheers

From my reading, the only chemicals used on hydro are fertilizers (which are also used on dirt grows). If size needs to be controlled, it can be done with pruning and bending techniques. If the plants develop pests or a disease, sprays might be used to control them, but growers use sprays that will not affect the smoking quality. These are mostly plant-based, bacteria-based, or fungus-based products that biodegrade or dissipate very quickly.

If a grower knows what he's doing, he flushes out the growing medium (hydro or dirt) for a week before the harvest to eliminate the possibility of harshness or chemical tastes.
