| 3 seconds is the most commonly accepted time frame I've come across over the years. If you're wondering whether it is worth it - no - don't hold your hits in. Like cypress said, roll it up, light it up, smoke it up, inhale - exhale.

| well, absobing it in ur lungs happens instantly, but u get high when thc goes to ur brain and triggers reactions from there. and i think i read u dont really peak until 30-60 minutes after u stop smoking, and then start to plateau at 2-3 hours. Erowid Cannabis (Marijuana) Vault : Effects

| almost all the thc is absorbed within the first few seconds.. holding it in longer than 4-5 seconds isnt gonna get your anything but a lack of oxygen.. |

| I've read that 95% of the THC is absorbed in the first five seconds after you inhale. The effect of each hit takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach its peak, plateaus for half an hour, and tapers off for the next hour or two.
