| I had XP for about 5 years; it never crashed and I never had to make any repairs. All the defrag and that crap, they were set on scheduled tasks. For the life of me I can't figure out what headaches I might have avoided by switching to Mac. I know there are a shitload of stories detailing how often windows fucks up and crashes or whatever; maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, but this has never occured to me. Plus my skinning and themes are all mac-based so my pc looks just as pretty.

| Man, yesterday I got a call from a mortgage company to come look at there server and see why there internet wasn't working. I go in there with my laptop(dual core, 2gb ram, but its a DELL ...but it was free so I dont complain), and see some kid...err...guess I cant say kid because he was older than me(around 20+), with his mac laptop by the switch/patchpanel etc. I ask him if he's gotten anywhere yet and he ignores me. He then continues to work and after 5mins tells the company they need a new Modem. I wait a good 10mins after he leaves, and go to work. Turns out they had a DHCP error in there router and I got it all up and running. Just an example of a mac user vs pc, lol. Edit: I could go on all day on how I think a PC dominates almost any mac product. Video/music editing I will admit that mac's software is better, but for anything else...I'd use a PC. |

| For me, the order goes: Windows -> Linux -> OS X Obviously in favor of PCs. I just don't see the logic in paying extra basically for a proprietary operating system. I know how to operate and maintain Windows with a minimum of headache. And I love to be able to play games. I like having a certain locus of control in the computer, being able to create and fix it myself. Apple kills the hardware choices. They're two generations behind on their video hardware, and if I want a quad-core machine, I'd have to spend it all on overpriced and inappropriate hardware (Xeons with fully-buffered RAM....WHY?!?!). Sure, I can run Windows on a Mac, but that still means I'd have to shell out EXTRA money on top of the inflated pricing. OS X doesn't eliminate headaches...at least not with any of the friends I've had who had an Apple computer. I've still had to troubleshoot based on what I learned using Windows machines. Apple has it's nice niche carved out in the laptop market, but a lot more mobile options are coming out--budget computing like the Eee PC or MSI Wind, or new tech based on the Intel Atom core--that make Apple's hardware seem bloated for what most people want to get out of their machine. |

| I'd take a windows over mac any day. Mac has it's place...not sure where that is, but hey. To me, mac is great if you're new to computers or want a simple machine, but it's just too simple for me, I can't use it as easily as a windows. Plus, many more choices with windows, apple makes disposable laptops; very simple, very few real choices, over priced, too simple, no right click (control click is not the same so don't give me that crap). That being said, I'm a linux user, it blows both of 'em out of the water (though windows is much closer than mac) LONG LIVE THE PENGUIN! |
