If there is hardcore evidence that someone raped a child, such as a videotape with clear images, then yes, that person should not be allowed to live anymore. Why put someone in jail forever? It is a waste of money. Take them out back and blow their brains out. They obviously are not going to contribute much to society.

i believe the person should live and go to prison. once they get to prison and prisoners find out what they did, and they will, they will get theirs. even people in prison have morals. i hate rapists and child molesters. i know a hand full of people that have been molested or raped, so i have pretty strong feelings on this topic.

I voted yes, assuming it was completely without-a-doubt that the person was guilty. If you are so heartless as to do something along those lines to someone who is too young to defend themselves... Then you have nothing to contribute to this planet, in my opinion.

But I do like Vicki's idea of castration. Not only would it send more of a message, it's not easy on the perpetrator! Death, as repayment for something so horrible, is a small price to pay.

And I know a few people who have been raped, and I'm very close with someone who was molested as a child... They have to live with it all of their lives. Why shouldn't the heartless bastard who did it? Chop it off, I say!

EDIT: I just read something I wrote in another thread (Office theft of the pizza), where I didn't condone taking revenge on the thief. I still believe that, however; I will never forgive or forget the trauma that was inflicted on me and my sisters when we were young. The anger and hatred for that man (My step-father) will stay with me until the day I die, even though he is now dead (died of emphesema and heart failure). He has been dead at least a decade now, but that makes no difference in how I feel about what was done.

Dammit anyway - I hadn't thought of it in a long time. Now, it boiled to the surface again, as fresh as it was back then. Counseling and payments might make it easier to deal with for a child, but it doesn't undo the damage done.

Revenge and punishment are two different things, so I didn't confuse what you said.

When I originally made this thread, I thought killing them wasn't good enough. I thought, and still do, that castration is a great punishment.
