Cool

I voted other. I didn't vote that way because I am, I voted that way because.....Let me ask you a question. Do you really want to know, or were you content with the comments and a little avater picture to show us who you were?

I voted that way because I don't care, and I still don't. That's what I like about the web, anonymity. I can get to know you just the way you come across on the pages of the threads......I didn't notice until this pole went up how little it mattered to me what color or nationality any of you are.

Nothing but love........

I thought this board would've been a little more diverse than the way it turned out...I wonder if this could reflect some unreached demographics in the legalization movement??? Just throwing that out there...

Church, it's much the same when mention Australia on this forum.
All people think of is all they've heard about from the media sources most easily available.

How can one be expected to know anymore than all they are exposed to.

If the only world changeing thing to come out of a country is a mass murder/suicide cult then that's all anyone is going to know that country for.

I voted everything because I'm an asshole and wanted to screw up the statistic....

I'm kidding. I voted everything because that's what seemed right to do to me...

It's been obvious to me, for a very long time, that if we want to progress as a specie, we need to move beyond the color of our skin or what patch of dirt we hail from. We need to move on as a group, united in the fact that the same things hurt us all. That war doesn't benefit anyone, and the living are always the ones left to pick up the pieces of the broken war that it leaves behind.

We need, as a whole, move beyond the fractured world that is based on where we live, or who we hang out with. We need move beyond petty thievery to feed our families, not because we're too good to steal to survive, but because it should never been needed - as a person of sound scientific mind I can tell you that with drastic reform of certain sections of the world economy, food could become freely and openly available to every single person on earth... And what would the downside be? Some people would be eating for free...

i like this post, Tro. You said a lot of good things and I agree with you that that's what should be done.

I don't think that we will see food "freely and openly available" at the end of that, because we will still have to have an economy. As far as some eating for free? They do now don't they? I mean seriously, the people that have more money than a normal person would spend in ten lifetimes need to give it to an organization that helps the poor, like Doctors Without Borders.....( My personal favorite..... )

That would be a start. Then they need to stop picking on the poor and blacks to fill our prisons with non-violent offenders who don't belong there. If they want to lock up gang members with the rest of the lowlifes, why not give them a separate cage. After all, we wouldn't put the cats and dogs together at a dog pound would we?

Ya know what a dump truck full of lawyers at the bottom of the sea would be?

A good start towards equality among races....

Free and openly available food could be done in keeping with a standard economy. It would be the same way it is now with Natural gas. If you cannot afford it, the company is required by law to give it to you anyway, and it comes out of the national budget - does it suck for those of us who pay taxes (myself included)? Yes. But it keeps people from freezing to death in the winter.

With further automation and more intelligent industrialization of food farming, we could easily see triple or quadruple the food output - everything from hydroponic barges to conventional organic foods can be made for less resource cost. I'd go so far as to say you could feed a thousand people off what would become a single mans labor, if that were the case.... tax those thousand to pay the single mans daily labor and give them free food. It would end up costing society the same, but those who could afford to pay the most, would... is it fair? Not totally - but better the rich have slightly less and no one die from starvation...
