Default Do you think weed has lowered your ambition?

I personally started losing my ambition for things like school, early freshman year, but didn’t start smoking till later that year, just realized it'll be a year this weekend. I feel that weed does in some part lower your ambition for certain things, but no more than video games. I'll occasionally some days find myself completely oblivious to the teachers and just counting the minutes till schools ends and i can go home a toke up and relax, but not too often. So just share what you think about the effects of weed on ambition.

Yeah, I would suppose so. But who knows? I don't have any idea of what my life would be like without buds in it, nothing to compare it to.

LOL,
Jake, if you "don't have any idea of what your life would be like without buds, nothing to compare it to", then how can you say you "suppose so"?

I'd say that marijuana and other drugs (to a much larger extent) changed my ambitions.

Before drugs, I was a rank materialist. I wanted to make enough money that I could live off the interest and dividends so that I'd never have to worry about having enough to live on for the rest of my life. I wanted the whole material bag, thinking that would make me happy.

Drugs opened my eyes to other possibilities, the most important being that it's what's inside your head that makes you happy, not what's going on outside. I got more deeply into meditation and found a career that provided adequate income and for which I got up every morning enthusiastic to get back to my desk to try out something new. I retired when I was 50. I could have worked another 15 years and had a cushy retirement. Instead, I have 15 more years to play with my dogs, hang out with my friends, meditate, read, listen to music, watch movies, go camping, etc. I have enough income to keep a roof over my head, food in my mouth, and a vehicle running, with a bit left over for travel and toys. I'm glad I found out that's all I need rather than work my ass off for the bread and wake up at 65 knowing that I'd wasted all that NOW for an uncertain future.

My ambitions haven't changed as a result of marijuana.

I cann't be rightly sure. Didn't re-start smoking Marijuana untill after I dropped 500lbs on my legs and messed up my knees, and rolled a car and got 4 crushed vertebrae and two fractured vertebrae, and now I got 3 herniated discs. So I ofton wonder if it's the pot that makes me lazy, or just after 11hrs of work I wouldn't do anything anyways. was thinking about this the other day.

It wouldn't work for you. Back in the 60's, people took psychedelics and expected to have a religious and/or life-changing experience, so we did. Sometime in the 70s, psychedelics became party drugs: people took them to get fucked up, so they did. For the most part, it's been that way ever since. The same drugs have very different effects, depending on set (that's your expectations) and setting (the environment in which you take them).

I had been studying Buddhism for 7 years and meditating for 3 before I ever tried an illicit drug. I was ripe for a religious/life-changing experience. I had the right "set". I finally understood what I'd been studying.
